Cassie ate lunch alone in the cafeteria, just like everyday. But it was ok. Cassie liked being alone. Being alone meant not talking to anyone who asked about her father.

Her father. Cassie's father meant the world to her. She kept his picture as her screensaver on her crappy flip-phone, the one he'd given her on her birthday, just a month before it all happened. It was all he could afford at the time and, while it wasn't particularly high-tech or popular, he did what he could, knowing it would put a smile on his princess's face.

There was a sketch of the two of them on the inside of her locker door. It was a portrait of the two of them together. Cassie's face wore a toothy grin, while her father's lips were curved into a smile.

On the back was a little note in her father's handwriting that said "I love you with all my heart, till the end of time. Dad. XXX." These things were constant reminders that Cassie's dad was watching over her.

"Excuse me." A quiet voice with an English accent snapped Cassie out of her thoughts and a slim finger tapped her on the shoulder.

Cassie turned her chair around to see a somewhat familiar face staring back at her, with emerald green orbs.

The tall, probably too slim girl had inky black hair that travelled down her back, almost reaching her butt. She carried a large stack of flyers in her arms.

Cassie couldn't remember her name, even if her life depended on it but had to admit, she was kind of cute.

"Mr Coulson told me to hand a bunch of these out." The girl explained, handing Cassie one of the flyers.

"Group therapy sessions" read across the top in bold, black letters. Underneath, in smaller writing said. "Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during lunch." A few other things were below that but Cassie didn't bother to read it.

"Thanks." Cassie replied.

"You're welcome." The Brit replied before turning to walk away. After a few steps, the black haired girl turned around and walked back to where Cassie was sat. "You ok?" She asked.

"It's fine." Cassie replied.

"Are you sure?" The girl asked. "I'm only asking because you're looking upset about something and you always sit on your own. Sorry if I'm being too intrusive."

"Nothing's wrong." Cassie insisted. "I'm fine."

"Come and sit with me and my girlfriend." The girl suggested, gesturing to a table where a slightly muscular girl with short, blonde hair sat. There was also a dark-skinned girl sat with her.

'Girlfriend?' Cassie thought. 'Well done Cassie, you've managed to find another girl who's already taken."

"I'm fine on my own." Cassie said. "But thanks."

"If you say so." The girl shrugged and turned on her heels and walked away, leaving Cassie alone once more, staring at the flyer in her hands.

She then walked back again. "Just so you know," she said. "It doesn't hurt to have some friends."
