"A phosphene is a phenomenon characterized by the experience of seeing light without light actually entering the eye"
Yuri, a eighteen-year-old third year, unfortunately had quite a normal day. The purple hair girl had sighed after finishing her final class for the day, putting her textbooks back in her body strap bag that fit snugly against her.
Yuri has been taking the hardest classes her school has to offer and more at the local university. They were fine, but the textbooks brought even more pain onto her already bad back.
"I might see my counselor about that," Yuri thought to herself, wondering why she hasn't already.
"though, there's something else amiss today." Yuri wondered, aloud this time.
Her thoughts were clouded, cut into ribbons by Monika jumping from around the corner.
"Oh, hey Yuri!" Shouted the beautiful brown-haired girl.
"You didn't forget about the meeting today, did you?"
"Ah, I unfortunately had, I was just about to leave," bowing her head in embarrassment that she couldn't even remember her literature club meeting.
"But th-thank you for reminding me. I'll be there soon."
"Okay! See you in a few!"
Yuri sighed, glad the conversation was over. She was never really one for conversing. Or talking to anyone. It wasn't that she didn't want friends, they were just too difficult to maintain and necessitated too much talking for her liking.
Now, what was she thinking about just before? Oh, right! There was an empty seat just behind her in her last class, with flowers on it. Rather strange, considering the fact that no one was assigned to sit there. A blank space. Yet, it felt like someone was supposed to be there. There's something definitely wrong. God, it bothered Yuri so much she wanted to reach into her bag and pull out her serrated knife to relieve her emotions, just slice it across her worthless, useless bo-
"Yuri?" A distant yet very present voice speaks to me."Are you ok?"
"Hello Natsuki. Yeah, why wouldn't I be, I've never felt more divine, really!"
"Well, you were just kinda standing there in the doorway to the clubroom. I had called your name a few times but you kept staring off into space."
"Ah, sorry to worry you Natsuki. I've just had a rather draining day is all. "
Natuski didn't seem convinced, but didn't care enough to press on more. Just this once, Yuri was grateful for Natsuki's arrogance.
After a moment to recompose herself, Yuri walks into the clubroom, which is a classroom that an English teacher was kind enough to let them use as long as it stayed clean and they locked up after they were done. Inside she finds the other members of the club; Monika and Natsuki, the latter of who had snuck in after Yuri had entered.
Their room was rather nondescript, it was arranged as any other classroom in the school was. The desks were arranged in traditional western columns and rows, encouraging individualism, which Yuri was grateful for. The back of the classroom held informational sheets on it's white wall while the left side of the room saw the bulletin board for class announcements and there was also this green chalkboard. Straight ahead were the windows which were currently beaming the warm yet blinding sunlight through them, casting the bars of light on and across the cool wooden floor. Finally, at the head of the classroom was the teacher's desk, currently inhabited by Monika. And rightfully so, since she was president of the literature club.
Now that Yuri had regained her bearing, Yuri was able to clear her mind.
