Link knew there was trouble when he stepped through the Forest Temple's door. There were 4 unlit posts and lots of laughter echoing around the nearby empty room. Navi buzzed around his head nervously. He brought out his sword and walked over to a door. Once he was out of sight, the laughter got louder.
" Joelle, you naughty child. Your laughter almost got us caught." "Sorry, Meg." Meg appeared out of thin air along with Joelle. Two others then appeared, laughing at Meg and Joelle. "And you two…" "Amy and Beth should get scolded as well!" They hissed at Joelle's comment. "All of you be quiet!" Meg unleashed a violet wave of flames. They became quiet at their eldest sister's command. A single post was lit. "Joelle, light your post." Joelle released a medium-sized orange flame. "Can I light mine nest?" The green sister asked. "No, Amy, Beth can." Beth squealed whereas Amy groaned. She unleashed a slightly smaller blue flame towards her post. "Now me, Meg-Meg?" Meg sighed at the pet name. "Yes, Amy." Amy's green flame was the smallest of the bunch, signaling her being the youngest.
"Now, Meg, what should we do?" Meg scowled at Beth. "You three can do whatever, but I'm staying here. Don't get yourselves caught." Meg decided she would nap as opposed to her sisters who glided off in different directions. She was awoken by the clanking sound of metal against a nearby pot. The other 3 flames were illuminated in their respective colors. But how? The green clad man and his fairy had returned to the room. Meg tried calling to her sisters but nothing seemed to work. She nearly started panicking until the truth finally came to her. Her ghost sisters had been killed. She contemplated whether it was a good thing or not. After all, they were rather annoying, but on the other hand, they were her sisters. She became visible once again and just laughed in the center after looking at the dull flames. She knew what she had to do. She glanced up at the boy and started laughing louder. Even if she were to get killed, she would do it by attempting to avenge her sisters. Link looked over at her. Another one? When would this all end? He picked up one final Rupee then ran over to the flames, sword in hand.
Once he was over in the squared area Meg was at, she divided herself into four illusions. Link tried hitting her illusions with his sword, but every time he would get close, she would recoil. He then reached for his bow. He shot a few arrows, hitting two of the four illusions, but one smacked at him. It knocked the arrow out of his hand. He quickly picked it up as she divided herself once more. This time, he got the real one. The next two times he chose the correct Meg. The following time he wasn't quick enough and got smacked. He hit her two more times then she screamed. She lunged towards the boy and fell unconscious. She disappeared, lighting her unlit post. The elevator came back for Link and he scurried down it before he could be stopped again.
Meg opened her eyes to find herself in some kind of solace. So she had been defeated after all. She heard the weeping of her sisters in a lonely corner. She went over to them, and they gasped in return. "Oh, Meg! He got you too!" "Meg-Meg, we're sorry!" "We were only playing!" She looked at them with a sad expression on her face. She fell to her now humanoid knees. They huddled around their sister. "Meg, it's okay, we're all together now." Meg wept with her sisters. Footsteps echoed around the light room and red eyes appeared before a body materialized. Dark Link smiled maliciously. "Need some help?"
