A/N: So, this will be my first DC/CC fanfiction posted to the web. It is totally unbeta'd and written using an XBox360 controler in internet explorer with the fanfiction "Copy 'n' Paste" text box. I have a lot of ideas for stories that I want to write down...I hope I get them all down before I loose my muse.

Please be aware I am reading through the manga as quickly as posible. Details may be wrong, characters OOC and things fuzzy. It will improve with time. I hope anway.

Summery: Jimmy believes he has everyone around him fooled, even Rachel and her old man. He only lied for their protection. If only he knew what they did.

Rating: T for minor swearing.

Disclaimer: I do not own DC/CC or any characters affiliated with it. Or any of it for that matter.

"Go Conan, go!"

The pleased-looking highschooler cheered as her little brother managed to score a goal. Sitting back down on the bleachers, she turned to look at her father sitting next to her, a wide smile plastered to her face. "Did you see Conan, Dad?"

The "sleeping sleuth" did not respond, instead dragging heavily on the ciggarett placed between his lips. Releasing the smoke into the air, he watched it disappear as he heard the cheer of the crowd around them. After a moment more of feeling Rachel's stare, he turned one eye to her and asked in a low voice, "Why is Kudo doing this again?"

Hearing his name sent her heart stuttering for a moment, her frown hiding the mild nervousness that had come over her. "Conan got invited to the school team by his friends, remember? Amy and Mitch practically begged him."

The thought of the brats strewn all over his livingroom floor clinging to Conan's pantleg made Richard snort in annoyance. "But he could've gotten out of it somehow. You know how he is, the little shit." Rachel's brow furrowed further.

In a quieter voice, she replied, "Jimmy probably didn't want to...even though with kids, he needed an outlet." Looking away, she sighed. "Soccer was always the best way to get that release, besides being a detective geek." Richard continued to watch his daughter out of the corner of his eye, noting the suddenly far-away look in her gaze. Following her line of sight, the path of course led to Conan, who was currently taking a small break with his team.

"When are you gonna tell him we know?"

The question startled her, and she looked back at her father, Richard's eyes meeting her's. They stayed like that for a few seconds, the older male's eyes flashing concern and mild anger, the young woman's eyes brimming with sadness and hope.

"He'll know when he tells us. If he could, he would have by now...I know he would." The certainty and firmness to her words compelled him to look to the other side, taking another drag from his smoke.

"Just be warned...the longer he takes, the more times I'm going to smack him upside his damn head for making you look like that." A small giggle was his reward, and he felt the bench shift suddenly as Rachel stood to cheer on their little Conan. With another goal, Conan's team won, taking the lead by 2 points.

"It's okay Dad,' she said, waving to Conan as he celebrated the victory, Richard tilting his head up to look at his daughter, "When it's safe, he'll know and so will we." Looking down, she smiled a little at her father before rushing toward Conan and scooping him up, hugging him and praisng him. Conan looked a little more flushed than he had before, but seemed terribly content in her arms as he smiled and nodded.

Richard watched on, the scene before him making his chest heave in a heavy sigh as he too stood, stomping out the remainder of the butt. He guessed that they'd just have to bite their tongues and keep "Conan" safe.
