The Silence

Princess Ok-Soo stares out over the endless ranks of the terracotta army. The rivers of Mercury are silent. There haven't been words in a long time. The tomb is worse for the silence that seems to echo off of the walls mercilessly.

Her hands run over the walls of the palanquin. The age of the wood is beginning to become apparent. The red paint is starting to come away. Soon the tomb will be soundless and colourless.

She sighs deeply and leans her head against the wall. The tomb has remained unchanged since that day when Jack appeared. No matter where she turns her gaze there are remnants of the battle. The warrior statues, silent sentinels of that man she despises, are her broken friends.

She daren't cry. The zero gravity forces them to float in her view. Her sorrow is abundant and constant. She doesn't need to be reminded that her precious Méng Yì is still elsewhere. His image, always in her mind, pains her ancient and longing heart.

Millennia have passed since that chance meeting. Jack will have died in the following years. He was a perfect image of Méng Yì. Yet, she knows that they are not the same. Her Méng Yì is the sole owner of her heart.

She will exchange the silence of the tomb for only him.

Author's Note: I love that movie. There are so many parts that I enjoyed. I can't tell you all but I find Ok-Soo's loyalty to be sweet. We all know that he won't return. She still hopes. That hope is in vain but that hope is pure which is why I had to include this. I thank you for reading. I hope that you enjoyed this little piece of mine. I apologise if you are, in any way, dissatisfied with this work.
