Ch.1

Butters smiled happily, eating his bologna sandwich at lunch, listening to his friends talk about their lives. Cartman was beside him yelling about the latest Nicolas Cage movie, about how bad it sucked, but Butters himself thought the movie was pretty good. Heck, he thought any movie was good.

"Hey, that reminds, me," Token said. "Has anyone seen Kenny recently?"

The boys blinked looking at each other. Now that they thought about it, Kenny hadn't really been at school lately. Ever since they entered middle school, Kenny had been having frequent absences, and no one knew why. Butters decided that he must be sick to miss this much school. So, in order to make Kenny better, he'd stop by after school and bring him a card to cheer him up.

In art class while the others drew penises or boobs, he was busy making a get well card for Kenny. He made a giant rainbow on the cover, made with glitter, and a picture of him and Kenny holding hands, with a giant "GET WELL SOON" logo colored on the front. Inside, he drew pictures, wrote him a note, and he sealed it in a simple white envelope the teacher let him borrow.

He stepped off the bust later that day and headed across the train tracks to Kenny's. He hummed the Hello Kitty Cartoon theme song as he knocked on the door, standing straight up, the envelope in his hands. The door cracked open, the chain attached; making sure the door was locked.

"What?" said Kenny's older brother.

"I came to see Kenny, is he feeling okay enough to see me?" he asked. The door shut and the chain was heard rattling. It opened again and he stood by letting Butters come inside. As he passed, he grabbed the five dollar bill hanging out his back pocket and smirked. Butters didn't notice.

He went into Kenny's room, noticing the parka covered boy on the bed. He was on his back, a playboy magazine propped up on his knees, his hands behind his head in a relaxation pose, and out of his mouth hung a cigarette. "H-Hey Kenny," Butters smiled.

The boy looked over, a bit flustered looking. "What, Butters?"

"Well I stopped by to drop off your Get Well card!" he said, setting it on the table beside the bed. "The guys and school and I really miss you, we want you back soon!"

"…Really… so tell me, why didn't the others come with you to see me?" he put the cigarette out on the ashtray by the card. An ember flew off onto the card, burning a hole through it. Butters noticed, but tried not to let it affect him.

"Well the guys just had a lot to do I guess. But we talk about you a lot, we want you to come back and hang out again."

"…Get lost Stotch," he said, closing the magazine.

"Oh, I get it, you're not feeling better yet. I understand, Buddy, you just get all the rest you need. I have to get going home anyway or I'll get grounded. I'll see you later," he said, walking out.

Kenny looked down at the card and huffed, lying down to take a nap.
