ORIGINS OF THE SHARINGAN: prologue

The bloodline limit of the Hyuuga family dates back many centuries before the first Hokage had built the foundation of Konoha. The origins of this clan is unknown to this day, however the reason that they were declared as a noble family of Konoha was because of their contribution to the success of the first Hokage's final battle with his lifetime rival in the "Valley of the end". Twenty years after the Konoha settlement, the village became prosperous, as shinobi from other countries swore their allegiance to Konoha. The Uchiha clan was a small group of the many shinobi that migrated into Konoha. They played an insignificant role in the Village, as they demonstrated average ninjutsu during missions. They were nothing in comparison to the Hyuuga clan. The strongest of the Uchiha clan was Uchiha Shisui. Although fairly weak when compared to the other shinobi in the village, he was the clan's Leader. All the members of Uchiha had faith in him, regardless of his level of skill. He was, to his people, a great leader.

Ever since the foundations of Konoha were laid out, the villagers had struggled to fend off enemies from invading countries for twenty years. To increase the success rate of missions undertaken by each shinobi, The first hokage had adopted the "three man team" system used by other shinobi villages. As a result, completing missions would become more efficient due to the variety of skills of each team member. Konoha was still young at the time, and for the people to become accustomed to this system, ninja academies where not only formed, but also, shinobi of chuunin and jounin ranking were also assembled into teams of three members.

Uchiha Shisui disagreed with the idea of cooperating with shinobi outside the Uchiha clan. However, the First Hokage's decision was final, and so, Shisui was partnered up with a shinobi named Hatake Shinbo - who specialized in close range combat and special investigation. The third member of the "three man team" was from the Hyuuga family, a female shinobi whose name was Hyuuga Hanabi. At first, this unlikely combination proved to be dysfunctional, as a taste for rivalry within the three members had generated. However as they progressed through each mission, differences were put aside and a sudden bond was created, resulting in the completion of each mission. The relationships between Shisui, Shinbo, and Hanabi strengthened. This was especially apparent with the relationship between Shisui and Hanabi. The two had fallen deeply in love. However, both where aware of their forbidden relationship, as neither the Hyuuga or Uchiha clan would be prepared to accept such a relationship.

The Uchiha clan did not like the relationship that their leader had developed, but learned to accept it, for they had a strong respect towards their leader. Unfortunately, the Hyuuga clan did not share the same view on the matter, as they severed their ties with Hanabi. Whether the relationship between the two different shinobi was accepted or not, a small bond between the Hyuuga and the Uchiha clan was created. However, the relationship between Shisui and Hanabi would fail in comparison to the greater importance that would lie within the power of their son: Uchiha Itachi. And this is where the story really begins…
