FIGHTING FOR LOVE
Author's Note: In the midst of the deeply emotional parting of Drew and Sam after her confession I needed to channel some of this angst in the direction in what we all might imagine will be an erotic reunion this story doesn't jump right in, but I'm hoping it might tease you just enough to peak your interest. Please review and let me know what you think.
CHAPTER 1
Music was pulsating through the room and with each swing into the bag Drew tried to rid his mind of the woman that so deeply and completely captured his heart. It took every ounce of will power to not take her in his arms each time he saw her, but he created that line and he needed to stay strong for the both of them so that if they found their way back it would come honestly.
What made this worse for Drew was the fact that we still felt trapped with Jason Morgan's memories and haunted with THEIR love. He couldn't help the jealousy that coursed through his veins as every touch, kiss and worse intimate moment they shared before he was shot ran like a horror film through his mind taunting him and chipping away at his diminishing self-esteem. He beat the bag rapidly with sweat cascading off of his body and he was so caught in his rage that he didn't even hear his voice being called.
"Drew, Drew, DREW" Curtis called him seeing his friend caught in this inner battle and a personal hell that he couldn't fathom he struggled with every day which is why he vowed to help him get his life back and free this man from these demons.
Drew was panting and his arms fell limp onto his legs and he looked up at his one and only true friend through it all. "Hey man sorry I didn't hear you I guess I was distracted."
Curtis smiled at the way his friend tried to downplay his battle to free himself of the prison in living in Jason Morgan's life with nothing of his own. "Man, you never have to apologize to me I was just hoping that man didn't cost you anything else like replacing that bag."
"Ha ha…you're just lucky I'm not taking it out on you in the ring this time" Drew smirked back knowing his friend was trying to play light of the situation, but also recognizing the severity.
Curtis put his hands up in mercy "My lady won't let me get back in the ring with you again until my cracked rib is healed from the last time you decided some therapeutic exercise. I should have known not to mess with a Navy Seal and I learned that lesson the hard way."
Just as the two men were verbally sparring they didn't catch the new set of eyes and ears listening in on their conversation. Sam had kept her distance from Drew for the past month and took extreme precautions to limit her interactions with him to as few business meetings that they both had to attend and had asked Monica and Alexis to be the go between with Scout spending time with her father.
Meanwhile Drew stood up and had finally caught his breath "Man you seriously didn't tell me I did that had I known I'm sorry."
Curtis laughed as he slapped Drew on the arm "Nah man I'm playin' with you actually truth be told you had nothing to do with my cracked rib, let's just say Jordan can get rather heated and creative when she wants."
Drew shook his head to the ceiling and that the was the last thing he thought he would hear from his friend and it stung a bit with his mind wandering to the raven-haired beauty that seduced him constantly.
"Really man? You didn't need to clarify that and I would have slept better at night you leaving that bit of information to yourself."
Curtis smiled again and he hoped he had lightened his friend's spirits if just for a moment even if it caused himself a bit of embarrassment in the end. "Alright I'll admit that didn't need to be said, but seriously dude that left hook of yours could have done some serious damage if I wasn't on the top of my game that day."
"Well I'll try to take it easy on you next time" Drew walked over and picked up the water and poured a bit on his head to let it cool him off.
Sam bit her lower lip and felt a rush of heat run through her body imagining the kind of things she would like to do to Drew's body right now with or without an audience.
Over the course of the past month Sam had taken this time to put things into a clear perspective of the love she shared for both Drew and Jason and as painful as it was to have Drew leave that day in the Penthouse she couldn't expect him to help her try and figure out her feelings without hurting him more than she already had and now she could see the value of that love.
Sam looked at Drew in the gym and just as she admired his blossoming relationship with Oscar she looked at this man regaining his own power and sense of self. She stared at his rippling arms hanging on his legs after an intense round of hitting the bag and yearned to have his arms wrapped around her again. She was determined to be back in his arms and she knew what and who she wanted without any uncertainty and now she needed to show him.
Sam turned the corner and pulled out her phone walking quietly to her car hoping the click of her heels would be unheard by the two men and it was time to spring into action. When Sam reached her car, she pressed speed dial #3 on her phone and hoped the woman would be willing to help her win her husband back.
"Hey Monica, I have a really big favor to ask of you and I know this puts you in kind of a precarious situation since it involves one of your sons."
Monica smiled on the other end of the phone and although she knew the deep struggle Sam had battled with her feelings for both of her sons she couldn't deny that her heart and life belonged with Drew now. She loved Jason and saw firsthand her devotion to him, but she also saw the deep betrayal and hurt they had caused one another and Drew had finally taught Sam a different way to be loved and live. Jason would always have the best of intentions with Sam and Danny, but the fact still remained that his first priority and commitment would be to Sonny and Carly and that wasn't what Sam deserved. In truth, Monica was able to have a son she no longer feared each call would be their last with Drew and he made an actual effort to be a part of her life and in a time that she had so little family left this meant the world to her.
"Sam of course I will help you, without hesitation but as I've told you for the sake of my grandchildren and sons I need you to assure me that you've thought long and hard about this and weighed it all out."
Sam adored Monica and her unwavering devotion to her sons and she was a shining example of loving your children as they are and not how you want them to be.
"Monica, I understand your reticence to my calling and favor and I can say that I've used this time away from Drew and Jason to reflect upon who I was, am and who I want to be going forward. I've changed Monica I'm not that woman who is a thrill seeker and throws caution to the wind because I now know the importance of valuing the life you live each day and those in it."
Sam felt a tear stream down her fact "I am a mother first and foremost and although I would love to shield them from the harsh world that surrounds them I know they will get hurt and I won't always be able to make it better, but I can give them security and love with showing them they are my priority. I now have to think of them before acting on impulse and I deserve to be a priority and that is what Drew can offer us. He not only tells me with words he shows me with his actions and that is something Jason could never do."
Now there was a steady flow of tear on her face and she had to continue "I know Jason never meant for any of us to hurt, but he was shot that day on the pier because of the life he chose to lead and at the time I thought I accepted that. Now after 5 years I realize that he hasn't learned anything from that time apart or asked me what I went through during that time he was away. When I contracted toxoplasmosis it all came to the surface the fear I ignored which was losing him to the mob again and then we come to find out Drew isn't Jason and my Jason comes back and he goes right back to working and living in that life without a moment's thought to what I may want or need."
"Drew showed me a life that I never imagined I could or would live and he chose me Monica and our kids over the mob. I don't want to go back I've come too far that woman that I was doesn't exist anymore and I can't live my life in the past clinging to the romantic ideas of what ifs because you can't change it and Jason has not shown me he would have a different life now."
"I'm not sure I ever told you this, but the first time I ever encountered Drew was at GH when Danny got away from me and wandered into his room and clung to his hand. There was this man bandaged and deeply wounded and raw and something immediately pulled me to want him to fight and get better. I pleaded with Danny to let his hand go and when he finally did after some serious coaxing I felt that undeniable connection."
"The love I shared with each of your sons is vastly different and yet eerily similar with the major difference being that only one is clearly my future and that is Drew. So, I know that I've rambled far too long and I understand if you need to decline, but I'm asking again if you will help me get your son back?"
Monica took a deep breath and with her own set of tears said "Samantha my dear it's about damn time you woke up now what do you need me to do?"
Sam knew there were a few things she had to execute perfectly for her entire plan to unfold properly and with any luck and lots of determination she would get her husband back permanently.
"First I'm going to need you to tell Drew that you have some ideas on trying to increase GH donations for the Nurse's Ball by using Aurora Media to reach out to the community for their personal stories of how the hospital has helped them. Now this isn't a lie because I've actually been brainstorming this idea and would actually like to see if that might be plausible. I'll need you to ask him if you can schedule a meeting with him in a few days to work out the details. Are you onboard so far?"
Monica chuckled "Yes Sam I'm in and I'm really happy to hear you are considering the future of the hospital with your new business. Is there anything else I can help do?"
Sam raised her eyebrows and a mischievous smile crept across her face as she said "Well, I hope it's not too much to ask if you could watch the kids for the weekend? If all goes well on the first stage of this plan I have a surprise getaway for Drew and I that has been overdue."
Monica immediately broke in "Say no more Sam you know I'm always happy to have the kids and if it means you and Drew getting some time away and alone all the better."
"Thanks Monica I really do appreciate all of your support and help."
"No thanks needed because I know that Drew will have that captivating smile radiating on his face in no time flat and you can both begin to rebuild your life together."
Sam stuck her phone back in her purse and raced to her now temporary home in the Metro Court suite ready to set-up the next few stages of what she hoped would be a reunion with her husband and the man that truly owned her heart.
To be continue?
