The Movement- Chapter 1 by ~RomaniGirl THE MOVEMENT The sad thing about it was, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Maybe if we hadn't tried to make Gotham better, it wouldn't have gotten worse. The movement was the center of all our problems, the movement we had started. Over the course of a year we had gathered our troops, presented our cause and for a while everything was great. Then it wasn't. EXACTLY 1 YEAR AGO JANUARY 1st 12:02 A.M. "Happy New Years Ce-Ce!" I looked up from my drawing at my Dad crawling in through our window. His Kevlar armor was littered with bullet holes and he smelled like blood and gunpowder. He walked across our dingy little apartment and stood next to me before pulling off his airlock helmet. The man under the "Red Hood" smiled his small smile at me. "Have fun with your friends punk?" "Dad, first off I'm not a punk. Secondly, you do know my friends are still here right?" My Dad gave me an exasperated look before throwing his hands into the air waving his gun wildly around his head. "Of COURSE they are! They spend more time here than they do in their own homes! Hey," He turned and looked at me dropping the act, "Ebs here?" "No, she went home." He closed his eyes and sighed deeply through his nose. I could tell that he was trying his hardest not to punch something. I was also sure he was thinking the same thing I was. Why a kid go back to their abusive parent? Only Ebony could answer that question though. "I gotta go do something, Kay Ce-Ce?" My Dad walked into his room and slammed the door shut behind him. He was going to go out again, nothing new. "Hey Cecile was that your Dad ranting about us being here too much?" My friend Jai West poked his head into the doorway of the living room. His black fell around his face framing his goofy grin while his guitar bounced around on his back. Jai was pushed into the room and onto the floor by my other friend, John Jr. He pushed his dreads out his face as he stood and laughed at Jai. "Ha ha ha, very funny D-Bag!" Jai began to push himself up off of the ground as Lian Harper began to walk in the room. The multi-cultured girl noticed him having trouble and proceeded to step on him. "Whoa, am I missing the step on a friend day?" We all turned and looked at Sara Grasu climbing through the window still decked out in full Robin gear. She jumped and landed on one foot on John's shoulder. That's when the newscast came on that changed the course of our lives. AN: Tell me what you think!
