Dru was just a child when his dad walked out on Christmas Eve, he joked around in songs which created the impression that he wasn't that bothered but the truth was everyday Dru missed his dad and wanted to meet him. As much as he adored his mum for looking after him throughout his life he wanted to meet his dad to see what had become of the man that used to style his hair and look after him. He wanted to show his dad what he had become and catch up on everything he had missed out on. He had so many questions that he wanted to ask but most off all Dru wanted a male figure to look up to; an idol. Sure his dad wasn't going to be the best idol but he liked to think that his dad had a good reason for leaving, when he was little he used to pretend that his dad was a spy or something cool like that. That he had to leave Dru and his mum behind to protect the country and work along other spies like James Bond. He would pretend that his dad was watching him and his mum, protecting them from afar as they were in grave danger if he lived with them; that when his dad had left it was purely because he was saving them. But Dru was now 24 an 'adult' and couldn't pretend anymore. He had to face the truth and leave all fantasy behind.
