A Story without an Ending

Couples: Dan and Blair, Chuck and Blair, Dan and Serena

Rating: PG

Summary: The real story was not Chuck and Blair or Serena and Dan. It was Dan and Blair that had the happy love story and happy stories don't have endings.

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

Author's Note: This is a simple drabble. I have a fear more so than Chuck ending up with Blair that Dan will end up with Serena and I think that is wrong because Blair is the love of Dan's life and I would hate for them to take back everything they built up in Dan's character about how he feels about these two women. I mean, he wrote vows for Blair for crying out loud and I fear they will just make it like it never happened. I have always wanted to write something that showed what I think will happen farther down the line with these people based on the different relationships on the show. Blair and Dan love one another so unconditionally that I think they will end up together down the line no matter how the show ends so I had to write this and I wanted it to be unique from other stories like this on this site. I hope you like it.

So please enjoy.

So maybe they weren't epic.

Like Chuck and Blair.

So maybe they weren't high school sweethearts.

Like Serena and Dan.

Maybe their story was just simply a happy one.

That's why no one in the UES gave it any credit.

That's why when everything was said and done, when Blair was back with Chuck and Dan back with Serena, no one feared the brief simply happy story of Dan and Blair.

They should've paid more attention.

It didn't matter if they were in their twenties, thirties, or their eighties because a connection as simple and happy like Dan had with Blair and vice versa never ends.

That's what Serena and Chuck took for granted as they were molding their own 'endings' for their own separate stories with their respective significant others.

They let the fact Dan was with Serena and Blair was with Chuck stand as an ending to Blair and Dan without ever letting that saga finish.

They took for granted that the kind of relationship that existed between Blair and Dan could never be finished. What they had was built on trust, comfort, acceptance, helping the other person, and daring to let one's true self be seen without any of the masks they wore for the world every day. What they had endured betrayal, hurt, and anger.

What they had endured time, most importantly.

It was a mature love based on friendship which meant it could endure all things.

It endured the marriage of Blair to Chuck and Dan to Serena.

It endured as childhood notions of 'meant to be' died and it endured when those other relationships crumbled on their weak foundations and ended like they were always going to end.

The love story was never Dan and Serena or Chuck and Blair.

It was always Dan and Blair.

So I have no idea why everyone was surprised when Lonely Boy made Queen B his happily ever after even after a decade since their first relationship ended.

Everyone was surprised but they should have paid attention like I did.

I always knew. I said it once and I will say it again. The past was just a prologue.

Now Lonely Boy and Queen B are writing the epilogue the way it was always going to be written because their story was simply happy and everyone knows happy stories don't have endings.

Maybe if everyone had paid as much attention as I did to the real story being written they would not have been surprised.

And who am I?

That's one secret I'll never tell.

You know you love me.

XOXO
