AN: This is just a small one-shot I wrote for apparently no reason. Before PP and Danny's parents don't know. I own nothing.
Goodbye
Sam Manson was sobbing. Her breath came in short, shuddering gasps as she leaned over her best friend for what she now feared was the last time.
"Sam," he whispered, his crystal blue eyes, now hazed over with pain, bore into hers as his chest heaved and blood dribbled from his mouth. The blood was unbelievably red, Sam noticed and she couldn't see the usual specks of green in it. She stared at it and couldn't bring herself to look away, because it was proof. Proof that he was really going.
Her attention snapped back to Danny, the boy beneath her, as he spoke again, "Don't blame yourself."
"Don't blame myself!" Sam said and in her hysteria her tears dried and her voice rose an octave. Suddenly she seemed to lose her brief, but refreshing bout of anger and her voice dropped to a whisper," But if you hadn't pushed me out of the way, if I hadn't tried to help you-" Her voice broke off as she dissolved into fresh sobs.
Her hand was clenched around the metal rod protruding from his stomach, as if she could will it away and the mortal injury that it had caused with it. The mortal injury that was sure to kill her long time friend.
At this thought, Sam's sobs stopped and she sobered up a bit. "Is there anything you want them to know, Danny?" she whispered.
"Tell Jazz that she wasn't just a sister to me, but a friend and tell Tuck he was awesome." Danny stopped and breathed in another shuddering gasp, "Tell my parents everything."
Sam nodded and let a few tears leak from her eyes at his next words. "I loved you , Sam."
"I love you too." She answered.
Danny smiled. "Good."
Another of Danny's shuddering gasps and than a few whispered words, "Live Sam and make the others live too. Don't forget me, but don't cloud my memory with regret. Move on."
Sam broke into sobs before nodding. Danny smiled before looking beyond her, at the night skies. "I'm going to be at peace, Sam, I can feel it." He whispered.
Sam smiled and nodded frantically. That was something she could hold onto later, when he was gone. The thought of him being at peace was enough to lighten the weight of his death.
"Goodbye Danny." Sam choked out.
A light smile touched the boy's lips, before the light in his eyes faded and the smile disappeared. A slight breath escaped him, his last.
With that Danny phantom was gone.
