The Real me - Faith poem
I'm dressing a certain way and yet you don't see what I am wearing.
There's more to me than you let yourself believe.
I could do anything and yet in your eyes I would not stray from this image of me you constructed.
Thing is that person, that's only a small aspect of who I am.
The rest you choose to ignore because you don't understand.
I'm crying out for help but you don't hear a sound.
I'm keeping it all in and the silence is deafening you.
Still you don't ask me what is wrong.
Still I am someone who I am not.
Someday I will force you to see what I am seeing.
Someday I will force you to know me.
In that instant perhaps you will flee,
Afraid of what you have seen.
But it won't be a surprise to me,
because I have been that person all along.
You just chose what you wanted to see.
Never acknowledging the real me.
