A Mother's Anguish
A mother should never have to bury her child. Molly Weasley thought as she rose from her seat in the funeral home to have a last long look at her precious son, Fred. The funeral was almost over and she couldn't have been more distressed.
To bury her son, was to admit that he is gone. That there was going to be no miracle of him bursting out of his coffin and shout that is was a prank, because that was what Fred was always good at, pulling pranks on people.
She would never forget how much fun Fred and George always seemed to have when they were picking on other people for their enjoyment. Most of the time, it seemed that the jokes were a bit too troublesome, but they never really managed to hurt anyone.
Molly's eyes watered as she gazed upon Fred's face. It seemed to be frozen in a little smirk, it was so fitting.
She felt an arm around her shoulder; it was Arthur, who was standing right there next to her. He didn't look well at all, his face was puffy, his eyes were red, all signs that he had been crying. His eyes had dark circles under them. Molly wondered how much he had been sleeping lately. She knew that she hadn't been sleeping well at all either.
After Voldemort's death, Fred was taken to a funeral home straight away. There were several opinions on what should be done but George was adamant that Fred would be buried with one of his Weasley Wizard Wheezes joke boxes.
"It is his life's work, mum. It's only fair that he is buried with what made him happy," George said solemnly.
In the end, she finally agreed. George was right after all. There was also a great debate on who would give the eulogy but in the end, George won that too. He said it only seemed right that the twin should give the eulogy, he knew Fred best.
George did a fantastic job. He was able to speak honestly about how Fred liked to play jokes on people, how he always loved to laugh, and that he loved his family even if he wouldn't admit it.
There were others at the funeral that got up to say kind words about Fred. Harry, Hermione, Lee Jordan, and Angelina Johnson all were there to share memories of Fred.
"Come on dear, it's time," Arthur whispered in her ear as she just stood at her son's coffin.
Molly sniffled and nodded. She didn't want to say good-bye to her baby but she had to, "Fred had so much ahead of him Arthur, he and George would have been famous for their Wizard Wheezes stuff."
"I know, dear, I know," Arthur said as he lead Molly away from the casket, "I have a feeling that wherever he is now, it is a happier place because they've got his smiling face and antics to cheer them up."
(sniffles) Let me know what you think, please. I personally love this story because of Arthur's ending line.
