A/N: I do not own Harry Potter, or any of the characters. We have Queen Rowling to thank for that. It's been years since I've done this, so I'm quite rusty, I hope you enjoy anyway!
In the last moments of life, Severus Snape could feel his soul escaping his body. To be honest, he was a bit surprised he still had one, but nonetheless, he could feel it leaving. As Severus Snape watched his newly acquired state drift up and away from his body he couldn't help but to wonder where he was traveling to. He tried in vain to push back toward the earth but the force was much too strong, so away he went. Up and over Hogwarts Castle, up and over the grounds, the Black Lake, and the Forbidden Forest, before long he was among the clouds.
How much time has gone by? he thought, pursing his lips and sighing.
After what felt like ages, he arrived at what appeared to be King's Cross Station. Only pristinely white, eerily clean, and with only one person there, him. He stood there, displeasure and confusion strewn across his face. What in Merlin's name was he doing HERE…. And then he heard it.
"Severus…," faint at first, "Severus…," a little louder the second time. He stood paralyzed. Was that it? The voice he'd been longing to hear again for years?
"Severus…," he started running towards the sound.
Louder now, "Severus…." Yes, it was her voice.
"LILY!" he screamed, "LILY, I'M RIGHT HERE!" tears now streaming down his face.
Louder and louder the voice rang out, "Severus…," but she was nowhere to be seen.
"I'M RIGHT HERE! LILY!" he cried out, "LILY!"
Realizing it was futile, he sank to his knees. Severus was sobbing now. Was this it? His punishment for all the wrong he had done? His own personal hell he gets to spend an eternity in? He was shaking, each sob echoing in the vast white, louder than before. He had given up.
Suddenly, there was a brilliant white light, brighter than anything in the room. Lily's figure emerged from the blast. Glowing in a radiant white gown accented in gold, her beautiful red hair coming down in a waterfall of tendrils, her green eyes sparkling. Severus Snape stared agape for a moment, before crawling on his knees to her, fully prepared to grovel. She reached her hand out to caress his cheek. Her fingers gliding across his cheek. He could feel the warmth of her, relishing in it, he started to cry once more. Before long a quick slap brought him back to his senses.
"I mean, really, Severus, did you have to be such a bleeding prat to my boy," she scolded and watched him cringe, "And his GRADES, Severus! How could you let that happen?!"
For the first time in years Severus cracked a smile. Laughing through his tears now. There she was, the sassy, brilliant witch he had known and loved.
She took his hand, helping him up to his feet, "Come now," she breathed, "We're going to watch my little Harry beat that bugger."
She smiled the most beautiful smile. They walked towards an empty train car. Severus Snape was happy. Truly happy.
"James will come around," she offered, "Sirius is just Sirius, you know."
But none of that mattered to him, because he was with his Lily now. Forever. And always.
