A/N: Hi again! Another short(really short this time) story inspired by a song(in this case, "Too close for comfort" as done by Jamie Cullum). This scene has been whirling around in my head for months, just waiting to be put into words. Anyway, thanks for reading, I greatly apprechiate reviews, even on short fics like this one. Disclaimer: Neither Torchwood, nor its characters belong to me. The lyrics cited are from the 1956 song "Too close for comfort" and does not belong to me.
"Would you care to dance, Mr Jones?" Jack asked with his trademark grin plastered on his face, having been unable to resist asking his secret lover to dance with him to the jazz song playing in the background.
Ianto answered him by taking his hand, and Jack lead them confidently out on the empty dance floor. They were all alone in the ballroom they had cleaned up after investigating a series of ghost sightings there.
"Where did the music come from?" The Welshman asked as Jack pulled him close.
"Just an old favourite of mine..." Jack murmured into Ianto's ear, and they started dancing in a rather fast tempo. It was a small challenge for Ianto to keep up, Jack noticed, but graceful as ever, his lover still appeared calm and in control, not to mention seductive. "I do prefer this newer version, though."
"Jamie Cullum?" Ianto laughed as he realized the artist of the song. During his lapse in concentration, he managed to step on Jack's toes. "Sorry," he mumbled blushing.
"Jamie Cullum," Jack repeated and lead Ianto into a spin, which he completed swiftly. "This song always makes me think of you. Or rather, how I act around you."
"Be firm, be fair, be sure, beware. On your guard, take care, while there´s such temptation. One thing leads to another. It´s too late, to run for cover. Much too, too close for comfort..."
They kept dancing for a minute. "Despite the pronoun differences," Jack added, and placed a soft kiss on Ianto's lips. But when the Welshman attempted to deepen the kiss and stop his partner's fast moving feet, he was lead into another complicated sequence of spins and dips that effectively acquired the full force of his attention.
At the climax of the song, though, Ianto found himself deep in his captain's arms, dance long forgotten, as their proximity had taken both their breaths away in the end.
