How is it that we always fall for the people that we can't have?
Neal Caffery knew this better than most people. Of the two women he loved, one was dead and the other was running from the FBI.
Kate was dead. Murdered by the man who made him who he was. Neal couldn't get it out of his head how horrible it must be to burn to death. It was a fate that was meant for him too. That thought wouldn't leave him either.
He owed his life to Peter. Again. Peter saved him from prison. Saved him from death. Peter cared.
Alex was gone. Running from the FBI because of him. It's kind of hard to love a con-man who works for the FBI when you're a fence. She didn't love him. Never could love him, it would be too hard for her. And Neal could never ask that of her.
So here he was. Alone. Who did he have? Peter had Elizabeth and Elizabeth had Peter. Kate was dead. Alex could never love him. Why did he stay? What was the point?
With that as a final thought Neal looked up and stepped over the edge.
