AUTHOR'S NOTE - The following story was is kind of a companion piece to The Kitten Debacle. While the Kitten Debacle is made of pure crack, this is more of a cute one. I couldn't resist the idea of Castiel with a sleeping kitten in his arms. As with thge Kitten Debacle, this one shot is inspired by a chance conversation over on the SNtv website, where a fellow Order Of Castiel member requested I write about about it. You don't necessarily have to read the other piece to enjoy (hopefully) this one - I just kind of got inspired to write two fics out of one prompt! *laughs*

CASTIEL'S KITTEN.

Dean and Sam walked into their current motel room, only to find Castiel crouching near to the floor, making a very strange noise indeed - at least for the angel.

Dean looked at Sam: Sam looked at Dean: then they looked at the angel.

"Cas. Dude. What are you doing?" Dean asked, eyebrows drawn together in a confused and concerned frown.

Castiel looked up at Dean, then, an amused look upon his placid face.

"I'm talking to the cat Dean. How else do you talk to a cat, other than to purr?" the angel asked, positively glowing.

"Cat? Cat? What Cat? We don't have a cat! OH CRAP, IT'S A CAT!" Dean said, as a small black and kitten toddled out from between Castiel's feet.

"Where did you get a cat, Castiel?" Sam asked, curiously.

"I found her outside, wandering lost and alone and I took pity on her and brought her in!" the angel said, looking very pleased with himself.

Sam looked at Dean: Dean looked at Sam: then they looked at the angel.

"NAAAAAW! Isn't he adroable?" Dean and Sam chorussed.

"I did have you pegged as a dog person, Cas!" Sam commented.

"How so?" Dean asked, curiously.

"Look at him, wuith those puppy dog eyes of doom - I think a dog would suit him!" Sam commented, gesturing to the angel, who had gone back to stroking the kitty on her head.

The Kitty purred, meowed and rubbed her head into the angel's waiting hand.

"Oh, so you've been looking closely at Castiel, have you? Looking deep into those puppy dog eyes of his?" Dean cooed, as he fluttered eyelashes at his brother and giving him a "Blue Steel" look.

"Jerk!" Sam said.

"Bitch!" came Dean's immediate response.

Castiel gently picked up the kitten, cradling it in gentle arms against his chest, at which point the kitten snuggled into him and fell asleep.

"Can we keep her, Dean?" Castiel asked, turning large and innocent blue eyes onto the elder Winchester hopefully.

Dean took in the sight of Castiel and the kitten before shaking his head regretfully.

"No, I'm afraid not, Cas, it's not practical having a kitten on the road with us. She'll have to go. I'll make sure she'll get a good home," he said, looking genuinely regretful over that.

He stroked the kitten's head gently, with one finger so as not to wake her.

Castiel nodded at that, before leaving the room with Dean, still cradling the kitten in his arms ...
