Emmett's Proposal to Rosalie

Esme POV

The sun was too high in the sky for us to go anywhere outdoors without showing our true selves. Carlisle was at work, Edward was in the garage updating his car engine, Rosalie flipped through the TV channels, and Emmett was probably upstairs putting a small box into his pocket.

I walked through the back door and into the sunlight filled room; my skin glittered as did the ring on my third finger. Rosalie stood up to turn the TV off because the remote was broken; Emmett smashed it in half.

I heard Emmett lazily walk down the stairs, but somehow beneath that laziness there was determination. I peeked around the wall and his arms were wrapped loosely around Rosalie's neck. Both of them were staring straight ahead, probably watching something through the glass window. Emmett caught my glance and I gave him a reassuring smile. I turned around and busied myself with wiping the counter tops; they needed their own private moment.

There was a quiet moment and then I heard Emmett mutter, "Hey baby." Give it to him to ruin the moment, but I smiled to myself anyways, he would do that. Emmett shifted his weight and I heard him kiss her softly on the cheek.

There was a short, sudden intake of breath that I could only assume to be Rosalie. I knew it then, he proposed to her as I heard him slide down on one knee. The human way, just as Rosalie liked. There was a moment of silence and I knew without a doubt that Rosalie would say yes.

There was more silence and I couldn't help myself, I started to fret about what was going on.

There was a break in the silence, both of them walked over and sat on the white couch. I realized I was holding my breath until I let it all out.

Just then, Carlisle walked through the door with his medical bag and Edward trailed behind him from the garage. Edward already knew what was going on, so he told Carlisle before he got in the house. They couldn't stop their curiosity from getting the best of them, both stood and watched silently.

I walked over to where they were standing and looked at the two on the couch. I could tell they were happy, Rosalie's diamond was large but it had her personality, which gave it the best touch.
