"Dorothy: Forget it, I'll stay here." –Steven Meretzkey

The warm rays of the sun embraced the figures lazed upon the grass rid of the poisonous poppies that the witch had adorned with earlier. They indulged themselves a few moments longer with their dearest friend, Dorothy Gale. These figures were none other than the infamous hero's of Emerald City, who had rid the county of Oz from the terrifying reign of the wicked witch of the west. Everyone was safe now; the munchkins didn't have to hide anymore, Glinda the good witch could take full control of Oz with no threats imposing against her. Everything was perfect now, although… It didn't quite seem so perfect.

"Does it get this nice in Kansas?" the peaceful lion asked Dorothy, his medal of honor glimmering slightly.

Dorothy took a good look at the sky and pondered her reply. By far Oz did have the clearest skies she had ever seen, aside from the dark skies that lingered all around the witch's castle. Kansas just seemed like a sepia blur compared to the majesty of vibrant colors that was Emerald City.

"No…" Dorothy started. "Don't suppose it is why nothing could rival these blue skies."

"Except the blue of your dress." The tin man grinned and gave a swift wink, which caused the friends to chuckle.

"Say, ever since before Dorothy came and got me, all I ever did was watch the sky, day in and day out… Hard to say why, but today, the skies seem a bit clearer than I ever recalled them to be." The scarecrow smiled sincerely towards Dorothy in which she reciprocated the gesture, but all of the sudden tears formed in her eyes and she started to sob.

"I don't want to leave, I don't want it to be goodbye…!" she said between choked back emotions. Surely there must be some way for them to be together forever, right?

After conversing and consoling, they finally came to a conclusion.

"What about Kansas? Your family? Is this what you really want?" The scarecrow asked, masking his excitement and anticipation for Dorothy to stay with him, to stay with everyone forever.

"Forget it, I'll stay here." Dorothy said with a smile while wiping a tear from her eye. She pulled Scarecrow in an embrace and skipped off with her friends towards Emerald City, and start a new adventure with her friends, forever and ever.

However, back in Sepia-tone Kansas, Dorothy never woke from her slumber.
