Lady of the Waves
Calypso Darjin tucked her long black hair behind her delicate pale ear, not even noticing the automatic motion, so caught up was she in a text on ancient runes.
"Cally!"
"Mmmmm?" asked Calypso without a thought, turning the page.
"Cally!"
Calypso jerked her eyes away from the book. "I'm listening! I'm listening!"
Padma Patil skipped up to her. "Guess who asked me to the Halloween dance!"
"That guy you have your eye on. That…that…wait; what's his name?" asked the blue-eyed Ravenclaw.
Padma stared at her as though she'd just committed an unforgivable sin. "Draco Malfoy!"
"Right, right. So he asked you?"
"Yes!!!"
Calypso nodded. "Cool…"
"No, more than cool," said Padma, dreamy-eyed.
"Alright," agreed Calypso, eyes flickering back to her book. "I'm actually really happy for you, Padma."
Suddenly Padma's eyes scoured Calypso's face. "Who are you going with?" she demanded.
"I'm not," replied Calypso, without looking up.
"No, come on! Live it up a little!"
"No," replied Calypso. "You know I never do to those things! Besides…"
"Besides what?" her Indian friend pressed.
"It's a full moon, Padma."
