(Hoo boy, I hope I get this right...) One of the Touch of Death word requests was... :takes a deep breath: . :passes out:

I did some research on this, and apparently it's contracted by breathing in fine particles of dust or something like that, and I heard that it's deadly. Requested by MagicalSquaresofDarkness, so this story is dedicated to her~

The little bell tinkled as the fresh, new farmer walked into the clinic. She looked around and caught sight of the young woman sitting at the desk.

"Hello!" Claire greeted as she walked up to Elli. The young nurse tilted her head as she tried to identify Claire.

"I don't think I've seen you around here before. Oh, are you the new farmer Thomas was talking about?" Elli asked, intrigued. Claire nodded.

"Yup! I'm Claire, the bright and shiny new farmer that this town has been asking for!" she said, hitching her thumb on the strap of her overall and pulling it back up over her shoulder. Elli smiled. The blonde woman that was standing before her gave off a hyper and bubbly vibe.

"My name is Elli. I'm the nurse here at this clinic. Trent is the Doctor; his office is right there," Elli said, pointing at the door that led to Trent's office. "Here at this little counter, I sell the medicines that Trent prescribes. Just come here if you ever feel low on stamina or fatigued, okay?"

Claire smiled and nodded.

"Oh, don't worry, I will!" she said as she ran out the door.

Claire's breathing was erratic. She had caught from working for ten years in the mines – at least, from what Doctor Trent had told her. Currently, Cliff was sitting by the side of the bed in the clinic, holding her delicate hand and patting it as if the warmth of his own hand was the only thing that could keep Claire alive.

"Has she gotten any better?" Elli inquired. Cliff looked at Claire's face; it had taken on a bluish tint.

"I don't think so," Cliff murmured glumly. Elli sighed and shook her head. As she walked to Trent, Cliff thought he heard her saying something about warning Claire to be careful about those mines. He shook it off as being overly worried about Claire's current condition. Trent walked into the room.

"I'm sorry, Cliff, but visiting hours are over. You have to go now," he said. Cliff looked at his wife one last time before placing a small kiss on her forehead and leaving the clinic until the next day.

Oh yes I did. More cheese. :le sigh:

I hope you're happy with this, MagicalSquaresofDarkness! :)
