Summary: How do you have a love of a lifetime when you're already dead?

Lying next to her,
her cold skin pressed against
my own icy physique,
the feel of her body, soft stone,
pressed into me, sends me to a
heaven I didn't know existed.
Her small, pixie like appearance,
she really is a thing of beauty,
my Alice.
She brought light
into my world of darkness
with a simple smile,
grabbing my hand so quickly
it was as if they were magnets
pulling toward each other of their own accord.

I wonder
how I got so lucky,
with my violent past,
to call her my wife.
She hadn't even blinked twice
when I told her
of my newborn years,
it was as if she'd known
about all the violence, torture and death
that covered my hands;
she showed me another way to live
my afterlife, a life I hadn't asked for or wanted
though she brought a renewed eagerness
into my soul, an eagerness to prove
especially to her, that I was no longer
the monster our kind was described as.

She carries a confidence
that I do not see in myself,
whether it is her visions
or her belief, she never allows
me to believe
anything less than how strong
I am; truth be told
I couldn't be strong with her.
She is the voice in my head
telling me, urging me to avoid
the temptations that come around humans,
I could not be myself
without the angel that is Alice.
She is my heart, my life
She is the air in my lungs,
She has made me
a better man.
