Three Guesses

"I'm telling you, I managed a corporeal patronus last night," Charlie said, an exasperated smile on his face. Tonks stared at him, looking sceptical.

"Are you sure you weren't dreaming?" She asked, her hair slowly turning from brown to turquoise. She was leaning back on her elbows, her legs out in front of her as they relaxed in the shade of the oak tree by the lake.

"Of course I'm bloody sure! I was there, I cast it, I saw it!"

She snorted in amusement. "Alright, keep your wig on, I was only asking. So what shape did it take?"

"Guess."

Rolling her eyes, she asked, "Why? Just tell me."

"Three guesses and then I'll show you."

She huffed but nodded reluctantly. "Fine. Uh... A Bear?"

He shook his head. "No. Why did you think it'd be a bear?"

"Well, you're chunky, you like play fighting and you growl at me when I annoy you. Seemed the obvious choice."

It was his turn to roll his eyes. "Next guess."

"A bird? You know, cause you like flying?"

"Nope. Last guess?"

"I have no idea. A lion?"

"Are you being serious? Do you think your patronus is going to be a badger cause you're a hufflepuff?"

She shrugged. "It's possible. That's if I ever get it right. Stupid spell is a pain in the arse."

"Important though, if you're serious about being an Auror."

"I know. That's if I even get into the academy."

"I don't see why you wouldn't. You'll be the best Auror, Tonks, we both know it."

She smiled softly. "Thanks Charlie-Bear. See, that's another reason you could have had a bear patronus. You secretly love that nickname, even though you scowl at me when I say it."

He reached over to poke her on the nose. "As long as you don't call it me in public."

"Come on then, the suspense is killing me. Show me your mad skills."

Taking his wand out, he closed his eyes for a minute, then cast the spell. A large burst of white light came from his wand and after a few seconds, solidified in front of them.

Tonks stared at it for a moment before breaking out in peals of laughter. Charlie watched her, his eyes twinkling as his patronuus faded away.

When she got herself under control, she managed to splutter out, "Of course it had to be a bloody dragon!"
