((AN: Thank you for checking this story out. :) I'm actually not much of a writer but this idea popped into my head and I decided to go with it, and see how it turned out. Enjoy, hopefully?))
- Day 1 –
Today, I speak to you from the comfort of my own home. Passing up this comfort of sitting quietly at my own desk, writing by candlelight as the evening slips in would be significant, indeed, but not impossible; I would very much prefer to be outdoors. However, that part of my life fell apart before I really knew about it. The beasts started showing up before I could even walk.
My parents don't know why they are here or where they came from, or what changed so suddenly. Originally, they thought it was just in our part of the woods, as we live alone. But both of them travel to local villages for their jobs, and the people there had been seeing them also. What was once a peaceful world, day or night, turned to a terror after dark. We are all very thankful the sunlight burns them if they don't find a cave or batch of trees to hide in in time. To put it bluntly, we'd be screwed if our situation was any different. Even the strongest fighters we've met don't want to see them.
I still haven't gotten to my point. I brought up my home for a good reason, as this will be the last night I spend in it. I may be sheltered, hurried inside by my mother my whole life as soon as the sky began sliding into its evening hues, but I am not stupid. My father made me a sword "just in case", which I have some knowledge on how to use, and I can cook and work with most basic survival tools by myself. Most of all, I am not afraid. I know it's my time to head out.
- Day 2, Entry 1 -
I fear my method of departure may not have been as effective as I hoped. I was up so early, stumbling into the crisp air before I could shake the blur from my eyes and apparently the sleep from my mind, because now that the day has fully begun, I question why I thought leaving a note would suffice. There's no doubt my parents will both be out looking for me by now and they know what lies beyond our forest better than I do. I've never gone farther than where the snow starts…
