AN: Prompt number 28 - "earrings". Dedicated to mikathekitsune. Hope you like.

"Mr Leonhart?"

"Yes, sir?"

"Might I enquire as to the nature of those… items… hanging from your ears?"

Leon fought back a smirk. It really wouldn't do to annoy Professor Yen Sid – he had a nasty temper. "They're my new earrings."

"Remove them at once. And then I would appreciate it if you studied the rules of this institution and learned what they say about such items."

Reluctantly, Leon unhooked the earrings, placing them safely in his bag. As soon as the teacher had left, Cloud Strife wandered over, a copy of the rules in his hand.

"Hmm, let's see… oh. There it is. No items of personal jewellery are permitted." Cloud grinned. "Not like you've ever paid attention to it before." He tugged at the chain mostly hidden beneath Leon's shirt.

"This is your fault, you know."

"You were the one who chose to pierce your ears."

"After you suggested it."

………………

They'd gone to the piercing place together, the previous weekend, after Cloud had decided he wanted to do something rebellious.

"I'm sick of doing what's expected of me. Let's go wild."

"And do what?"

"I want to get something pierced."

Leon had just intended to go as moral support for Cloud. He, after all, was perfectly fine the way he was. Until Cloud had caught sight of the guy behind the desk.

"You'd look good with your ears pierced like that."

Leon had almost passed out in shock. The guy resembled nothing more than a colourful pincushion.

"I don't mean all of them. Just here." He'd flicked Leon's earlobe, then licked it gently.

"Not now, Cloud, we're in public."

Cloud's words had made him think, though, and eventually agreed, not even considering all the fuss it would cause when they were back at school.

……………….

"He's gone, you know. Put them back in."

"He'll be back."

"Just cover them with your hair. It's long enough."

Retrieving the earrings, Leon slipped them back in. "There. Happy now?"

"Very. You have no idea how sexy you look."

"I hope you realise I'm breaking the rules just for you."

"Some rules, Leon, were made to be broken."
