Maddie sighed as she placed the finishing touches on her device. Danny had been in the strangest mood since last month, always going out in the middle of the night and coming back with such a look of disappointment. She wished she could help...
But things weren't like they used to be.
Checking in on Danny, Maddie gawked at the sight before her.
Her son was cradling a girl, no older than fourteen, with a look of immense joy in his eyes. The girl had baby blue eyes, with raven black hair peeking out from a dirty red beanie. The girl was obviously from the streets, judging by her scuffed shoes, her tattered red shorts and blue sweater.
"Oh, Dani..." Danny mumbled through her greasy hair. "I still care... no matter what they say..."
The girl looked up with tears shining in her own eyes. "Y-you really mean that?"
"Of course Dani, not because you're just like me... but because you are your own person. No matter what he said, you aren't just a clone. You are Danielle Fenton, little sister to me."
With a look of joy that made her almost glow, she wrapped her arms around Danny. Danny smiled fondly at her then leaned back against his bed and sang.

Taking a breath, he gazed with love at the half-asleep girl in his arms and continued.
If they knew sweet little you...

Then he looked down. The girl was now sound asleep in his arms.

And Danny fell asleep with his sister in his arms.
A week later, Maddie found herself staring at an equally compelling sight.
When she had gone out for a drive, she never expected to find Phantom himself. She never expected to find him not fighting a ghost, nor terrorizing anyone, but instead be holding a girl.
Phantom was cradling a girl, no older than fourteen, with a tender look in his eyes. The girl had electric green eyes, with stark white hair pulled back in a ponytail. The girl was of obvious relation to him, judging by the shiny white boots, the black and white HAZMAT suit, and the infamous DP symbol displayed across her chest.
"Danny, it's been a week since I came back. Do you really still have to hold me every night?"
Phantom looked into her radiant eyes, smiled and replied, "Yes."
With that he settled down against a tree, shifted her so her head was against his chest and sang.

Maddie had a strange sense of deja vu as the peaceful song drew to a close.
