This story was inspired by a story that I read here on fanfiction that was never completed. I really loved the concept and wanted to rework it a bit to see what I could come up with. I'm also working (or planning to work really) on a sequel to Surprise Wedding Planning Leads to Trouble. I need for readers to GO VOTE ON MY POLL or PRIVATE MESSAGE ME so that I can figure out what career Inuyasha should have. I'm also still looking for a beta-reader if any one's interested. The position would preferably go to someone who would be willing to remind me (sometimes furiously) to update.

So, here's the prologue to Flip the Script.

No one really cared what happened to Inuyasha Taisho. He was small for his age, wore glasses, and was a hanyou. All perfect ingredients for a "Bully Me" soup in the third grade. And bully him they did. The only time they didn't outright bully him was when they excluded him from their activities. Aside from his siblings, he had not one friend.

But he could deal with it, because of her.

Kagome Higurashi. She was the prettiest, nicest, best smelling girl he had ever met. She never even called him names or pulled his hair. Sometimes, he would even smile at her and she would smile back.

She was the only person he knew that didn't seem to treat him differently because he was a hanyou. And he had a major crush on her because of that. And he was currently writing said crush a special Valentine's Day poem in his Dad's journal. A poem that would never be delivered for two reasons.

One: Inuyasha never tore things from his mother's old notebook. This notebook was the last thing that he had left to remember his mother by. His mother had purchased the book to write down his thoughts and dreams, but never got the chance before he tragically passed away.

And Two: Kagome already had a "boyfriend". Koga Hitomi. Big Bad Wolf of the school. Literally, since he was a wolf demon. They had been "going out" for the past year.

And speaking of Koga.

"Hey Mutt Face, what do you have here!?" Koga yanked Inuyasha's notebook from his poor, grappling fingers.

"Awww, looks like Mutt Face wrote himself a little love poem," Koga said, his cronies already moving into place to hold the struggling Inuyasha back.

"Hair as black as midnight with the beauty of the sky. In the arms of another man, yet my heart is where you lie. Sweeter than fresh honey, kind as kind can be. Oh, how my heart beats for you Kagome Higurashi?" Koga spluttered the name out then glared at Inuyasha.

"You tryna get with my woman?!" Koga asked, "You're pathetic like my woman would ever want some flea ridden, mangy, mutt faced, half-breed like you! Right Kagome?"

Inuyasha full of trepidation, glanced at Kagome. Her normally sunny face lacked all emotion. Her eyes seemed dead inside and he felt intense fear as he awaited her response.

"Of course not," Kagome answered, icily, "I would never stoop so low".

Inuyasha felt his heart crack at her response. Breaking slowly and painfully. He literally felt like he couldn't breathe. And then Koga dealt the final blow.

"This'll teach you to mess with my woman" Koga said, holding Inuyasha's book up in front of his face. He pulled out a pocket lighter and lit the corner on fire, forcing Inuyasha to watch as his mother's journal burned in front of him. And as Inuyasha watched his last connection to his mother go up in flames so did the remains of Inuyasha's broken heart.
