Paige and Richard's daughter, Zinnia used to be best friends with Piper and Leo's daughter, Mallory. When Zinnia turned thirteen all the love that she had for seven year old, Mallory diminished. Mallory longed for the when Zinnia would love and play with her again, but now all Zinnia would say was that she was too old for sush childish things.
When somebody loved me, everything was beautiful
Every hour we spent together, lives within my heart
And when she was sad, I was there to dry her tears
And when she was happy, so was I, when she loved me.
When Zinnia was six years old and Mallory was only a few minutes old, Zinnia whispers to her baby cousin that she would also love her and protect her. A year later Zinnia was making funny faces to get baby Mallory to laugh, and when Mallory would try and copy the funny faces Zinnia would laugh.
Now Zinnia is nine years old and Mallory is three years old. When Mallory came back from daycare crying Zinnia was heartbroken that someone would hurt her baby cousin's feelings. Zinnia asked Mallory why she was crying and little Mallory said that another girl in daycare said that she was a freak and nobody loved her. Zinnia reassured Mallory that the girl was wrong and probably jealous because Mallory has so many people that love her.
Through the summer and the fall, we had each other, that was all
Just she and I together, like it was meant to be
And when she was lonely, I was there to comfort her
And I knew that she loved me.
It was summer and ten year old, Zinnia decided to teach four year old Mallory to swim. Mallory was so excited to learn how to swim from her favorite cousin. The two cousins had so much fun that and Mallory knew how to swim when summer was over.
When Mallory was in kindergarten she would come home wanting her cousin, Zinnia because nobody at school would play with her. Mallory's mom, Piper would call Paige, who is Zinnia's mom, then Paige would bring her daughter over so the two cousins could play. Zinnia and Mallory would laugh and play. Mallory sometimes wished that Zinnia was in her grade so they could play together at school.
Since Zinnia would always play with Mallory and hug her, Mallory knew that she was loved.
So the years went by, I stayed the same
And she began to drift away, I was left alone
Still I waited for the day, when she'd say "I will always love you."
Now Zinnia is sixteen and Mallory is ten year old. Mallory anxiously waited for the day her cousin would say "let hang out" or "I'm sorry I ignored you, but I will always love you". Mallory never did hear the words she longed to hear from her cousin. Soon the day for Zinnia to leave for college came and she didn't even say so much as a goodbye to Mallory.
Lonely and forgotten, never thought she'd look my way,
She smiled at me and held me, just like she used to do,
Like she loved me, when she loved me
Mallory is now thirteen and she realizes that her cousin is never going to love her again. Mallory is in her room crying because she wants her Zinnia to love her again. One day Zinnia came to visit from college and she smiled and hugged Mallory the way she did when they were younger. When she loved Mallory.
