Rosalie
It was many a year ago,
In a small town by the sea,
That I knew a most fare lady,
A woman you may know by the name of Rosalie.
And she was beautiful,
Yet she took notice of me.
We spent every waking moment together,
In this small town by the sea.
Young and foolish were we,
Yet we loved with such a love, me and my Rosalie;
So much that lords and nobles,
Coveted her and me.
In the night they came,
To this small town by the sea,
Coming for blood and murder,
Blood of my Rosalie;
The royals of the world hired this man,
To separate her from me.
The man named Royce was handsome,
So much that he tricked my Rosalie,
He wove a web of false affection,
Ignorant of her love for me,
Lying and cheating, drinking his drink,
Costing himself a princely fee.
He eventually killed her,
In that small town by the sea,
Leaving her bleeding body in the street,
Oh, my dear, darling Rosalie,
If only our love had been stronger,
If only you would've kept me.
The pale man found her there,
In that small town by the sea,
Where he took her away,
He took her away from me;
He saved her life,
Yet cursed my Rosalie.
He made her a beast of the night,
Making her leave that small town by the sea;
And she joined his family,
Where she found a new soulmate, my Rosalie;
And she forgot all about those years,
She forgot all about me.
Now I hear that she still lives,
Far away from our kingdom by the sea;
And she is happy,
Once in a while thinking of me;
But she is now a goddess,
My beautiful Rosalie.
Author's Note
The poem you have just read was inspired by the immortal epic of "Annabel Lee" by my favorite poet in the world: Edgar Allan Poe. He was a genius, a man both disturbed and brilliant who was haunted by the untimely deaths of too many lovers.
If you were to look up "Annabel Lee" you would discover that the style of writing for "Rosalie" is almost identical. Also, I adapted the "small town by the sea" from Poe's "kingdom by the sea". I did not copy Poe's work, but was inspired by it. I hope you enjoyed this sad yet hopeful poem that tells of the near-death and turning-into-a-vampire of Rosalie Hale, captivating, elegant, majestic, and inconceivably beautiful.
