Author Notes:
Please leave constructive criticism and feedback on the chapter after reading it. It really helps me improve my skills as a writer and makes the story more enjoyable for you, my reader! At this point I could own a S'Bux or two because of how much tea I drink from them while writing.

Nestled against a pillow on her window bed Sciezka lost herself in a romance novel while the rain outside pitter-pattered against the tall, wide living room window. Black Hayate had curled himself tail-over-nose sound asleep on top of her feet, keeping them warm. Hawkeye had left the dog with Sciezka while she was away on an assignment. She always enjoyed having extra company around the house. At her feet the window was slightly cracked to let the smell of the rain slowly waft into the room. Fresh spring rain and lavender were her two favorite smells.

Earlier in the evening Fuery brought dinner over so Sciezka could take the night off from cooking for herself. After careful consideration he'd settled on Italian, a sundried tomato and mushroom risotto with butternut squash and pancetta along with a side dish of steamed vegetables. Sciezka's eyes widened as Fuery set the table, lit candles, and made a plate of food for her. Romance wasn't his strong suit but he made an honest effort at it.

After they had finished eating dinner Fuery surprised Sciezka with one more gift, a new book. The book was delicately wrapped in plain tan butchers paper and a bow had been expertly tied on it with thick twine rope. Sciezka had become a fan of a used and rare book shop in Central City and hadn't stopped raving about it to Fuery since the day she first stepped foot inside.

Gently lifting the paper that covered the book glancing down at the cover her face lit up full of excitement. She jumped on Fuery almost knocking him to the ground. He knew this was the best gift he could have gotten her on such a dismal day.
