Kagome and Inuyasha: Me and Bobby McGee
Summary:
I based this story off of Janis Joplin's "Me and Bobby Mcgee". I don't know if you know
this song or not 'cause its kinda old so you probably don't. Anyway, Kagome and Inuyasha (Bobby McGee)
are hitchikers who recently broke up with their band and are now doing whatever they can to scrape by.
But how long will it take before one of them finds something better and leaves the other one stranded?
Chapter 1
... Kagome's POV:
Here we stand in Baton Rouge, waitin' for the damn trian to show up. It seems we're the only ones here. Guess its smart to other people to stand out in this heat, but considering we have no where to go...Gee, I guess picking the life of a hitchiker wasn't too smart. But its my life and I'll do what I want with it. Besides I've got Inuyasha with me...I'll be o.k.
End Kagome's POV.
"Hey Kagome , what time is that train to New Orleans supposed to get here?" Inuyasha asked.
"3:30 for the thousandth time" Kagome replied, slightly annoyed.
"Well what time is it now?"
Kagome looked at her watch. "It's 3:15."
"Why did we live the motel in such a hurry anyway?" Kagome asked wiping the sweat off her forehead with her sleeve.
"Well," Inuyasha said, "I kinda stole all the money out of the cash register"
"That explains how you bought our tickets then." Kagome said rolling her eyes. She stood up and streched. Walking to the edge of the platform, she looked to the left down the tracks for any sign of the train. Seeing none, Kagome walked back to her bag and opened it. She pulled out her water bottle and took a sip of it. The next thing she herd was was a loud whistle that sounded like it was right next to her. Kagome turned around and sure enough the train was coming to a halt at the station. "Oh thank you lord." she cried out.
"Come on Kagome hurry up" Inuyasha called already at the train.
"Coming. " She called backed. Grabbing her bag, Kagome ran toward the trin and got on.
"Ticket please." said a voice from behind her. Kagome turned around to see a tall man in a blue conductor suit. " Right." she said digging around in her pocket.
"Here you go." she said giving the conductor her ticket and walking into the compartment. Kagome went and sat down next to Inuyasha. They were the only two in that compartment. Kagome looked out the window next to her. "Hey, its raining." she stated.
As they started to move Inuyasha began to sing the blues. Kagome pulled something wrapped in a dirty red bandanna out of her bag. She unwrapped her harpoon and began to play softly as the windsheild wiper slapped time.
'Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waiting for a train as I stand near as faded as my jeans. Bobby flagged the disel down just before it rained and rode us all on the way to New Orleans. And I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna and I was playing soft while Bobby sang the blues, Windsheild wipers slappin' time, I was holdin' Bobby's hand in mine and we sang every song that driver knew.
Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose. Nothin'. It aint nothin' hon if it aint free. Feeling good was easy 'nough when he sang the blues. Ya know feelin' good was good enough for me, good enough for me and Bobby McGee.'
