"And then the multiple of that has to add up to be…" She waited for Chad to answer. She looked over to se he had fallen asleep. "Chad!" she screamed in his ear.

"Forty- seven!" he said suddenly.

"No, twenty- three!" Taylor said with an annoyed voice. "Come on, Chad. You asked me to help you with math, not to watch you sleep!"

"I know, I'm sorry." He said. Taylor didn't think he sounded sorry.

"This is not fair to me!" she told him.

"That makes two of us."

They worked out five more problems together, and then he started some more on his own. When he was on number seven, she slammed the book shut.

"Are you ever going to ask me out again?" she asked. It sounded as through she had been waiting a long time to ask him.

He looked at his feet, and opened up the book. "I wanna do math." He said n a quiet voice. He started again. She picked up the book, stood up, and held it behind her back.

"Do you have any idea how much pain you caused me? I thought you had fun the first date! You even kissed me! But then I overhear Jason talking to Zeke about how you won't ask me out again because I'm not cool enough. How would you feel? You know what, forget it. I don't wanna go out with you again if you're so concerned about my popularity level!" she stormed out of the library.

She started to cry as she walked over to her car. As she rustled through her purse to find her keys, Chad came running after her.

"Taylor, please." He said coming up to her.

"No, you stay away from me!" she said, still looking for her keys, tears streaming down her face.

"Taylor, that's not why I didn't ask you out again! Do you even know how fast gossip travels around this school?"

"Yeah, right, Chad." She said, turning to him. "I thought I liked you! I thought I saw something different! But no, you're the same as every other stupid, mean, self- absorbed jock! You think just because you can play sports and get the girls and everyone likes you and you have the perfect life, you can treat others like trash? That's not how it works!" she turned back to her car, now furiously searching for the lost keys in her purse.

"Taylor, please. I didn't ask you out again because…because I don't deserve you." Taylor turned to him. He kept talking. "You're perfect. You're so smart, you have all these friends, you're kind and sweet, and you definitely deserve more than a stupid, mean, self- absorbed jock. I thought it would be nicer of me to let you find that someone. But, look where it got me."

"Chad, I don't want anyone else. I want you."

He walked forward and put his hands on her shoulders. They kissed quickly, and when they broke apart, he smiled

"Good, cause you need these to leave." He held up her car keys, and she grinned, kissing him again.
