The Never Ending War
Prologue
I let my body float in the room, as I remember what I have done in the past four months. I can still hear the battles in my ears, I can still see the explosions with my eyes, and I can still feel the pain of watching the woman I loved die by my own hands.
It has been only one day since the end of the One Year War. The Earth Federation and the Republic of Zeon have finally agreed to sign a peace treaty to the war that took over half of the human population, though many of the Zeon forces still want to wage war against the Earth. There are a lot of Zeon fleets unaccounted for, but the Earth believes they can easily defeat the remnant forces. I received word that they no longer need me to stay at Space, so now they are sending me back to Earth.
I never wanted to be a soldier it was forced on to me when I decided to pilot the Gundam. I was very foolish to do that and now I am paying for that mistake. Kids like me should never do that; well at least normal kids should not do that. I turned out to be a Newtype and that is why I survived the four long months where I battled the forces of Zeon and Char Aznable. I never wanted to fight in the war but I felt obliged ever since I got into the cockpit of the Gundam. That was another punishment for me for deciding to pilot the Gundam. I still feel obliged to help the Earth Federation military, even though the war is finally over, but I do not think if I could have re-signed from the military the leaders of the Earth Federation military would have agreed to it.
Yet with all these hardships that I have endured and still have to endure, there were good times. I met really good people. People who I now trust with my life and I know they trust me as well. I even got to meet the love of my life, Lalah Sune. The one woman who understood me and what I was becoming, the one woman who could bring me true happiness and I knew I could have made her happy as well. When we first met, I knew we were meant to be together and I know for a fact that she knew we were meant to be together as well. If only she survived the battle. If only we had met each other first. If only she had not met Char Aznable. My name is Amuro Ray and I killed the one woman who could have given me everlasting love.
