This is my first story I have ever published anywhere I would love to know what you think.
thank-you enjoy.
Prologue
He sat behind his desk looking at a picture of a young girl. Taking a sip of whiskey as he examined the image. She couldn't of been older than 6. Her short brown hair framing her small innocent face, deep green almond shaped eyes, alight with laughter. Smiled broadly at the ghost behind the camera.
"When can I expect results?" asked the man starring out the window. His grey suit and black tie off set his dark tan skin. If it hadn't been for the dark purple scares across his right jaw bone, down his left eye and down his neck, he would have been very handsome.
"Soon, I'll contact y'all with everything, I find" his thick southern accent answered. "but before I can go any further I will be needing a down payment." the southern smirked broadly as he placed the picture down and leaning back in his large, deep red, chair behind the dark wooden desk.
The man in the suit clicked his fingers and one of his goons in black stepped forward and placed a bag on the desk. then stepping back next to the door without a word. "I take it that 20 will suit you." said the man.
"Why thank- y'all gentle men. I shall be in touch." the southern half sang.
The man in the suit turned around and walked straight out the door without a glance back. The goons in black followed suit. the door shutting behind them.
The southern picked up the picture again and asked "Do you want to tell me what I'm suppose to do about this?" to the young red head.
She moved through the opening hidden behind a cabinet. she wore black jeans, stiletto boots, leather jacket and a red tank top walks in and flopped in to a chair by the dying fire place.
"Do your job." she replied her eyes fixed of the flickering flames.
"Y'ar insane tha-" she cut him off.
"You we're asked to find Jane Silverfox. And she is dead. get him a copy of the death certificate and leave it at that." she told him simply.
"But, what about the body." He stressed pushing his chair and standing slamming his hand on his desk.
"Sit back down." she ordered "Body or not Jane is dead. she died years ago." her voice empty of emotion. "we stick to the plan, we can't afford for any mishaps, Gambit, too many lives at risk for that."
"I know but doesn't make my job much easier." Gambit said then smiled warmly "You have nothing to fear, lucky lady, Anna-bell and I will always protect-"
((KNOCK KNOCK))
Standing up and walking to the cabinet pausing briefly to glance back at him and mouth "I know." before slipping through the opening and pulling the cabinet/door closed behind her.
That's all for now. Please let me know what you think. Thanks. =)
