A/N: And another OUAT fic. My fics on Once are rather narrative so please bear with me. I do hope that you enjoy this. My third story for the show.
They're back at the beginning. Half a year ago it was her. Now, it's her happy ending. It's the repercussion of what she had done. She only wanted to save him; she didn't think of anything, just SAVE HIM. She's still the Saviour, damn it! But now she's going to pay. Or rather, he's going to pay.
Killian makes the difficult choice of watching Emma watch her family go to hell, literally, and be the man he wants to be. He chooses the latter instead, sacrificing the chance to live Emma gave him when Excalibur tainted him.
Excalibur. The tip with its body. The Dark One's dagger and the rest of the sword. Two Dark Ones. Killian and Emma as one. She had to use the magic imbued in it to save him, in Camelot's field of pink rose flowers, however dark. But now she has to use it to kill him, take away all the darkness in him – and in her.
The moment Excalibur pierced his heart, they were freed of the darkness. At the cost of his life. He held her tight to remind her that he loves her more than anything in the world, that she's his happy ending.
Excalibur. It slowly disintegrates on her hand. The sword with their names etched on either half – Emma Swan and Killian Jones. Two hearts, one body. And he falls to the ground, a hero. The man he really wanted to be.
She holds on to him until he is whisked away. She doesn't want to let go of his hand. She doesn't want to let go. She had found true love and a happy ending but was taken away by darkness.
Why does it always have to be darkness?
Her mother hugs her tight.
Hush, Snow White says. It's okay, baby.
Her father comforts her, gentle strokes caress her back.
She cries uncontrollably in their arms.
She sleeps with the ring he gave her, the one he tasked her to take care of. A sort of engagement but not really engagement rite. But voices wake her. She knows what they are and where they are coming from.
He's back. The Dark One is back. Rumplestiltskin. Ha had found a loophole.
She bargains with him, blackmails him on Belle, in exchange of the sacrifice Killian made. He agrees. Her family is doubtful but she tells them she wants it. She points out her what her parents did before in Oz not too long ago. Snow White and Prince Charming – one heart, two bodies. She's intent on doing that with him.
So they decide to go on a quest to the Underworld to find him. And like her parents, she made a vow that she knew only him can hear,
Hook, Emma says, determination etched on her face. I will find you. I will ALWAYS find you.
