Malik. Adam Jensen's mind was back to thinking about her. How she had been killed by Belltower. How he heard her last dying words over the radio. I could have helped her. I could have saved her. Malik's death is my fault.

He knew he could have saved her. He KNEW. Why would he let her just die? She had told him to leave her, that she would be fine. Oh, if only that had been. The guilt poured over him like a tsunami. Adam's world was shaken, and more lonely then ever. Maybe it was the lack of generally friendly and helpful commentary over the radio. Maybe it was that he would never see her smile again. No, that wasn't it.

It was that he wouldn't see her again, at all.

He came back from this tangent, and out of the trance-like state he was in. Adam's mind readjusted itself, and he looked around, to get his bearings again. . He was in the walls of the Harvester complex. They were the gang of crazed, murderous, remorseless criminals, who would rip your augments out of you for their own use. He had smashed a wall to get into this small space, and realized he would have to smash another one to get out. There were no doors.

He climbed down a rusty ladder, carefully calibrating his steps to make as little noise as possible. He reached the final rung, and waited a second, listening carefully for a reaction. Thankfully, there wasn't one. He turned around, and was in a small hallway, with plastered walls. Adam snuck over to an area to the right of him, and analyzed the wall, seeing where the best place to enter would be. He activated his Smart Vision, and searched for where the Harvesters were, through the walls. He saw a lot of people. Almost thirteen Harvesters, including one who was standing with the back against the wall he was looking through. The majority were about 15-31 feet away, excluding the one against the wall.

Adam had an idea. The Harvesters hadn't heard him breaking the walls at all, and he had smashed three in the complex ALONE. They wouldn't notice this, even if they were as close as it showed them. He got ready, and stood close to the wall. He brought his balled up fist back, and pushed forward with the force of a train.

KRUCK!

The wall exploded forward, pushing the Harvester to the ground, and partially crushing him. The Harvester managed to let out a slight whimper as he brought out his combat rifle. Adam quickly brought out his holstered silenced 10mm pistol, and shot the augmented thug in the face, and into his brain, which killed him instantly.

Adam felt quite proud of himself. It wasn't a big feat, but it certainly was a good strategy, for certain situations.

Seconds later, Adam took in the surroundings of the room.

Blood. Blood was everywhere. It coated the floors, the ceiling, the walls, everything. It was a surgical room. A giant metal claw hung from the ceiling, obviously used to remove augments. Medical instruments were on top of trays, carried by small carts. The last thing he would notice was the medical table. It was most definitely used in the process of removing augments. Then, he saw who was on it. What he saw would haunt him for every last second of his life, torment him, and scar him.

On the table, dead beyond revival, was Faridah Malik.
