Tonks gasped. "I love this song!" she declared, her fingers spinning fast around the volume dial on the old fashioned wireless.

Remus watched as she began to sway softly on the spot, the fabric of her night gown flowing seamlessly like a waterfall over her protruding belly. He noticed how peaceful she looked, with her eyes closed and her movements completely calm, like she didn't have a care in the world. It was as if a war wasn't raging around them, and for one small moment there was peace. Remus wanted to feel that easiness too, and he rose from the sofa to join her.

"I love this song, too," he confessed.

Tonks's eyes opened. "Really?" she asked incredulously.

"Yes, really," Remus nodded, "My mother was a Muggle, remember?"

Tonks smiled, and to her surprise Remus suddenly swept her up in his arms and waltzed her across the room. She tossed her head back in laughter as he carefully tipped her backwards, gently lifting her up again so that they were almost nose to nose. Tonks studied her husbands face, his lined skin and his warm amber eyes, the faint scar that dashed across his left cheek. He had never looked more beautiful to her. Tonks rested her head against Remus's shoulder with a sigh, and as they swayed he sang to her:

"Lonely rivers flow to the sea, to the sea..."

Remus had never sang to her before. His voice was as low and hoarse as always, but Tonks could detect a hidden melody in it. Stood there with her head on Remus's shoulder, beneath the low glow of the oil lamp and with their unborn child resting safely between them, Tonks felt like she was finally understanding the true meaning of magic. In that moment she no longer felt the fear she had carried with her everywhere for the past year, instead her mind and her heart were too filled with something else: love.

"And time goes by so slowly, and time can do so much," Remus continued to sing.

"Remus?" Tonks whispered.

"Yes?" he replied.

"Promise you won't leave me again," she pleaded, "Promise you'll stay until the end."

"Until the very end," Remus promised, bestowing a kiss upon her forehead.
