9:49 PM
A dark figure is seen walking through a seemingly desolate village. He stops in front of a small hut and the glint of silver is seen as he pulls something out of his cloak.
A voice whispers, "Wake up…."
He steps in and screams along with splatters of blood are heard but die within seconds.
"Wake up…"
He pauses and turns his attention to the little girl cowering in the corner, eyes wide with terror. It's okay, your mother and grandmother are sleeping, you'll join them in a moment, he whispers.
"Wake up…"
Another flash of silver is seen and one last cry is heard, but that too dies within seconds after his departure.
"WAKE UP!"
I jump up in bed, screaming and ready to attack. Hiroku is standing at my bedside smirking. He leans in towards me. "Wake up, Kirami", he says, still laughing.
"I heard you the first time, idiot", I say, rubbing my eyes. I feel sore all over, and my head is killing me. "Damn it", I say, more to myself than Hiroki.
"What's wrong", he asks, looking truly concerned even though he was laughing not two minutes ago.
"My head hurts", I say. He nods his head showing that he understands and immediately leaves to find Satoshi. I lie down again and try to gather my thoughts as Satoshi all but rips the door from its hinges as he bursts into the room.
"What's wrong? Are you in pain, wait, of course you are, I was called in here. What happened, who hurt you?"
All of these questions were being thrown at me as he felt my forehead, counted my fingers and toes, checked my eyes for redness, and measured my heart rate, all at the same time. The only question I really heard was, "How many fingers am I holding up?"
Seven. The answer was seven but I couldn't get a word in edgewise.
"Guys, really, I'm okay. I'm fi-", I try to say but Satoshi interrupts me.
"Hiroku, she's delirious. Go boil some water and run to the market for that special tea."
Hiroku, who apparently has been standing in the corner the entire time, nods and exits immediately. Satoshi directs his attention to me again.
We make eye contact and it hits me. He just needs Hiroku out of the room. He does this every time Hiroku calls him in when there's something wrong with me. It's a system we worked out since the nightmares started.
"The dream again?" he asks. I don't say anything because he already knows the answer.
He sighs and sits near the edge of the bed. "How bad?" he asks.
"I died…"
He sighs again and pulls me toward him, wrapping his arms around me.
"I don't know how to fight this, Kira", he says, "All I can do is be here to comfort you when you wake up."
He's crying. He always cries and it's always my fault.
I open my mouth to say sorry but before I can get any words out, he says "Don't be. You didn't cause any of this." As much as I love him, I can't tell him the truth.
He knows everything about me except the fact that I blame myself for everything that's happened.
He runs his hand across my cheek pulls me closer to him. I touch my face and feel something wet.
I'm crying too.
We both sat there for what seemed like hours. Satoshi fell asleep with his arms still around me, and it isn't long before I join him.
If only you really knew…I'm so sorry..
