Sword of the Wind

Oh my!

I don't think I will ever stop being amazed by the wonders of this strange, new world, Cephiro. When Presea-san said she could make magic weapons for us out of the legendary ore Escudo, I must admit, I never expected anything like this.

They are beautiful! Each one unique in color. A sword for each of us.

Hikaru-san, with the directness that is her personality, is the first to call her blade. Strong and sharp like a broadsword, it reflects her kendo training. A ruby jewel like fire gleams in its hilt.

Not willing to let our friend fight alone, I propose Umi-san and I take up our swords as well. They come to us with the same ease and surety of Hikaru-san's.

Umi-san's blade is long and quick like a fencing rapier just like she studies with back home. A sparkling sapphire rests in the same spot as Hikaru-san's ruby does in her sword, only this one is brilliant blue like water.

It is my sword that is the most wonderful and strange of all though. I am no swordswoman like my friends. I honestly expected a weapon made for me to be a new bow and arrow set. My specialty is that of an archer. That Presea-san crafted a sword for me too is surprising to say the least. Or did the Escudo choose to be shaped into its current form, suggesting itself to Presea-san from the beginning, I wonder. Such mysterious magic.

The lightness and comfort of my blade in my hand is amazing, especially in comparison to my friends' swords. It looks like the largest of them all, but I feel I might as well be holding a feather for all its weight I feel. Yet, it is solid enough in substance that its presence is not lost to me either. The emerald stone in my sword hilt reminds me of the eye of a whirlwind that is my power to command. Any fears I have over my lack of skill with my new weapon dissipate like a dying air current for Presea-san's life hangs in the balance. The battle is joined!

We strike in a trio of color – one, two, three. Red. Blue. Green. The monster falls as we deliver a swift death. Even my bow and arrow never felt this much a part of me, a true extension of my will and heart, which is how things work in Cephiro.

But it is too late for poor Presea-san. She has given her life to aid us in our quest to save her world. We will honor her by becoming Magic Knights and never forgetting her brave sacrifice.

Goodbye, dear Master Artisan.
