So... I decided to write a Hetalia oneshot. Yeah.
It was a quick thing, done at the spur of the moment... so if there are any mistakes, please tell me. ^^;
I don't own Hetalia.
Matthew could still remember when his home had been filled with happiness and cheer in every corner. Even after he moved from Francis's care to Arthur's, Matthew still felt at home. The air would often be filled with laughter, usually coming from his mischievous twin brother whenever a prank he set up managed to work. Occasionally, he'd hear some screaming coming from their mentor, mostly because of whatever Alfred did do. But Matthew would often find the two making up later on, and the house would be filled with that wonderfully joyous feel again.
But lately, that happiness had been replaced with an air of tension. Arthur and Alfred have been fighting more, arguing over things like rights and independence. Alfred's people were resenting English rule, and it was showing in his twin's actions. Sometimes, their fights would go on till the late hours of evening, and Matthew would know it ended when he hears Alfred's pounding footsteps make their way upstairs. There were times Matthew had to resort to pulling a pillow over his head, just to block out the noise.
Then one day, Matthew woke up to a strange sort of sound. He couldn't hear the loud voices of his family throwing insults like rabid dogs... nor could he hear the sound he so deeply missed, the sound of laughter and happiness that made him smile.
He heard nothing.
Confused, he hoped out of bed and slowly made his way downstairs. Had the fighting finally stopped? Did Arthur and Alfred finally make peace again?
But when he reached downstairs, he didn't see his brother smiling at his mentor... and he didn't see his mentor grinning alongside his brother...
Instead, he saw Arthur, standing in front of the window. His emerald eyes, usually bright and lively, were dark and distant. He didn't smile, didn't acknowledge Matthew's presence... he just continued to stare out the window, not moving, not flitting his gaze away from it.
Curiously, Matthew approached and stood beside Arthur. Violet eyes peering out of the transparent glass, he could make out the tall form of his brother, walking away from their home.
"Where is he going?" Matthew asked, continuing to stare at Alfred.
"He's leaving us." Arthur replied in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Oh... will he be coming back?"
Matthew was so busy watching his twin brother leave, he failed to see the cold smile that graced itself upon Arthur's lips.
"No," he said, shaking his head. "No, he isn't."
"He isn't coming back."
So yeah, it's crappy. DX
How's my first Hetalia fic? Aside from crappy, that is. ^^;
