A Harsh Winter
By HoMeSlIcE4LiFe
Summary: And now you feel ashamed for what you've done. You'd take it all back, so long as you wouldn't feel the way you do now.
Disclaimer: I don't own the HP world, it's still Jo's.
A/N Okay, here's another drabble that started out as an L/J thing, but then it kind of turned into a remorseful Snape thing towards Lily. Anyway, sorry if I disappoint. Let me know if you really want me to attempt James too.
Her eyes glistened from the tears that had not yet fallen.
They were green, a pure green, and rivaled the most beautiful emerald in both color and sparkle.
They were two windows into her soul, two reflections of her heart.
These two shining orbs were the most beautiful feature of this young girl, and partnered with her hair, carried the spirit of Christmas all year round.
It is a miracle to you that such beautiful eyes exist.
But today was different.
Today that spirit has been deflated, and it's all because of you.
The splendor of them has decreased as more tears surface.
This is the first time you've seen her cry.
Her once pure white eyes are now puffy and red.
That special twinkly was gone, and all that remained were two pits of emptiness.
They reflect betrayal, disappointment, and confusion back at you.
And now you feel ashamed for what you've done.
You'd take it all back, so long as you wouldn't feel the way you do now.
You've hurt her in a way he never could, and that's made you the enemy, and him the hero.
Now, it feels cold like the harsh, cruel winter.
It's colder than a dementor's kiss, and it feels like you have been beaten up.
The softness, the innocence, and the hurt in her eyes couldn't be doing this to you, you think, and yet you feel them boring into you, tearing you apart.
They made it feel like winter, even though you know it was spring.
You hate this feeling, and what you've done to her.
But you know that you deserve this.
Just as the betrayal of her best friend will be forever in her heart, so the memory of the look in her eyes right now will be forever in yours.
Forever more will you feel the cold, and never the warmth of spring and happiness in her eyes.
A/N So, how do you like it? I think it's kind of cool that Lily finds "spring" in James, just as Snape did in Lily, and how that without her, it's like winter. Symbolism is a beautiful thing, my friends. Anyway, drop a review on your way out!
Love!
Alex
