It was dark and she was screaming. Why was she screaming? She couldn't hear what she was screaming. There was a strangled noise coming from her mouth and then a shriek broke out.
"Brittany, no! Brittany!"
Another shriek.
"You can't take her away from me!"
She felt distant from her own body, but she could still make out the muffled cries of her own voice.
"Santana! San! Wake up! You were just having a nightmare." Brittany cooed, hovering over her. "Everything is fine." She said wiping a stray tear from the smaller girls eye.
"I'm here."
"I'm sorry. I thought I lost you." Santana sat up slightly pecking Brittany's lips.
"Someone was taking you away from me...pulling me away from you. I couldn't see you. Everything was dark." Santana paused looking at the darkness around her.
"Like now." She said lowly staring into crystal blue eyes.
"Like right now."
Brittany traced her thumb over Santanas cheek. "I'm sorry I have to go." Brittany whispered.
"Wha-why?"
"It's late. My parents might start wondering where I am."
"They won't care if you stay here."
"A-Artie's picking me up tomorrow morning." Brittany said quietly while getting off the bed.
"Oh.." Santana let out, but Brittany couldn't hear her.
"I'm sorry." Brittany murmured before closing the door to Santanas bedroom behind her.
"Please don't go..." Santana said softly staring at the door.
"I love you." she manages to choke out and it's the only truth she's ever known. And then everything went dark again. Except this wasn't just a simple nightmare. This was her reality.
