CHAPTER 1: Ren

'I think we should camp here for the night.' Sokka said, when he turned around everyone was pretty much unpacked already anyway, it had been a long day. They set up camp in a clearing of forest where the grass was soft and green.

'OK, Katara you go fetch the water. Aang you get some wood and help Zuko light the fire, Toph you work on the tents. Everyone got that?' Said Sokka. 'Sukki, you and I will find something to eat.' Everyone set off to do their part of setting up camp.

Aang was off in the woods finding some wood for the campfire with Momo, when he noticed something in the distance.

'Is that…Yuyan!?' Out of nowhere an arrow flew straight at Aang, pinning him to a near by tree. He struggled to set himself loose, but eventually he ripped the arrow from the tree and sprinted away.

'Make sure the boy stays alive, the Fire Lord will have our heads if he finds out we killed him.' Said the leader of the Yuyan.

'I think we should leave him Captain, his camp is probably not far from here, and there will be a lot more benders on the way.' Said one of the Yuyan, who goes by the name of Ren.

'Silence, Ren we were ordered to capture the Avatar and that's what we'll do, and without fail.'

'Yes…sir.' Ren said with reproach. All of the other archers were shooting at Aang, trying to pin him down. One arrow in particular Aang didn't notice and was seconds away from hitting him in the arm. Ren hit it out of the way with one of her own, this left Aang with an incredulous expression on his face. 'Run Avatar get out of here!' She said. Ren followed closely behind Aang deflecting each arrow as it came.

'What is she doing!?' Asked the Captain, furious at Ren's actions. 'There will be severe consequences.'

'I'm not sure sir, should we keep shooting?'

'No let's re-group, we need to think this through.' With that the Yuyans retreated.

Aang came to a halt to catch his breath. Ren following his lead.

'W-who are you and why did you help me.' Asked Aang quizzically.

'My name is Ren, and I didn't want them to catch you because I want peace just as much as you do. And the only chance we have for peace is you.' Aang sat in silence at that comment.

'I have a feeling this won't be the last time we see those guys.' Aang said

'Especially because I betrayed them. They'll be after me now as well after that reckless act.' Ren added.

'Well why don't you join our group, we can help keep you away from those archers, and I'm sure you'd be a big help with defeating the Fire Lord, with your skills.'

'I'm not sure about that, won't your allies think it's a bit suspicious bringing a Yuyan archer back from what ever it was you were doing?'

'Yes but I'll convince them.'

'Thank you-

'Aang, my name is Aang.'

'Right, thanks Aang.'
