White Blank Page

Ziva walked into McGee's kitchen dressed only in his MIT t-shirt. The college shirt dwarfed her but she felt surprisingly sexy wearing it. McGee was on the telephone to his mother; so Ziva bored with listening to half of a rather boring conversation had gone to find the take-out menus so they could decide what to order for dinner.

She had gathered most of the menus that littered McGee's kitchen when she noticed another collection of them sitting on his shelving unit. Ziva was not a big fan of McGee's disorganisation and with a sigh she moved toward the shelves with a sigh. The menus were sitting on top of a cardboard box, which like many things in McGee's apartment was not labelled as Ziva reached over to collect the menus the box toppled and fell just millimetres from her feet. Sheets of white paper with neatly typed text covered the wooden floor.

Ziva bent down to pick them up, flashing Jethro in the process. It was then she saw some familiar names Officer Lisa and Agent McGregor, they were McGee's characters. The status of his latest book had been a secret even from her, so Ziva wondered if she had found the Holy Grail, the new manuscript.

She sat down on the floor crossing her legs and had a look at the pages, as she did, she felt a sense of déjà vu, the case was familiar; it was not a case that the team had solved, instead it was the one that had been the main plot of his first book. The papers were not a copy of his original manuscript as there was one major difference; Agent McGregor and Officer Lisa got together.

McGee hung up the phone after a pleasant conversation with his mother and headed into the lounge to see how far Ziva had gotten in deciding what was for dinner. Instead of finding her looking over takeout menus he found her sitting with a collection of papers.

"What is this?" Ziva asked cocking her head. McGee still had no idea what she was reading. He sat down next to her to find out. "McGregor and Lisa get together,"

"That's how I originally wrote it," McGee admitted. Ziva frowned.

"Then why did you change it?" Ziva asked as she put the papers down.

"My publisher didn't like it," McGee reported, "she thought that McGregor wasn't exciting enough for Lisa."

"Your publisher was wrong," Ziva replied as she moved the papers away.

"I know," McGee whispered as he moved closer to her. His hands ran under the shirt she had claimed.
