Lovely and Lonely, a naruto fanfic

I have no friggin' idea where this came from. It popped up. From my head, where it is messy. I got inspiration from this quote I found, and I guess it sounds like someone else's work, by what my friend said. Oh well, enjoy!

Prompt: Contradicting First Meeting
Pairing: Sasuke and Sakura
Mood: Sad, Wistful, and Childish

She looks lovely (lonely) in her wedding ring, is his first thought. The only thought he formed as their eyes found each other across the room. As grey met and held emerald, the whole world melted away until it was just those two.

But only for a moment.

(... if only for a moment...)

"What's the difference between lovely, and lonely?"

"With you, they are one and the same."

It isn't meant to be, after all. So what is a moment, compared to a lifetime? It will not make a difference.

(... never will it be.)

"I've always wanted to marry a gentleman."

"A gentleman is merely a patient wolf."

"Are you a gentleman?"

"Yes, the worst kind."

He looks dashing ( daring, dark... devious?) with that woman in his arms, is her first thought. And maybe on her part she was hoping he'd be her hero, her savior.

( hero, villain. Who can tell here, in this world of fake smiles and false statements?)

Whisper.

Glance.

"It's horrible that they didn't even get a chance."

"It's even more saddening when they almost make it."

"So if you could choose, between not having a chance, and almost getting there, which one..."

"-Would I choose? It doesn't hurt as much when something gets taken away, that was never really yours."

She looks beautiful.

(and broken, but he won't linger on that...)

He looks handsome.

(and tainted- dark, but still, she'll ignore that...)

She looks at him with those (big, sparkling, hurt) eyes,

will you save me?

He is no knight, no prince.

(if he is, then he's a dark one...)

She smiles.

He frowns.

"Don't be too happy, this could easily turn into a tragedy."

And as he sets his glass down, she lowers those (sad, wounded, hopeful) eyes of hers. A tear slides down her cheek, and slips into her mouth.

(bitter, just like fallen dreams.)

Because he has already told himself (and her) no.

Anwyawy, I got a review from someone that they didn't understand it. Well, Sakura was in an arranged marriage, thus the "she looks lovely (lonely) in her wedding ring" part, ya dig? She looks at Sasuke, asking him to save her. He looks back at her, and essentially tells her no, he will not. It's not his place to. Okay?

Oh, and the italics that are seperated from the other parts of the story? They are either conversations between them, but not the same them that is in the story, ya get it? Its a them that is just watching the them in the story, okay?
