It had started out as a joke, but now all of them are staring down into the water, squinting in an attempt to sort out the blurry shapes and identify their friends.

"Do you think they drowned?"

Clarisse hits the speaker, a member of the Aphrodite cabin, in the back of the head. "No, stupid, he can't drown! He's a Son of Poseidon!" She turns away and continues to peer into the lake.

"But... what if she drowned? And now he's just staying under there, grief stricken?"

Clarisse opens her mouth to verbally abuse the boy but then she stops and squints even harder. It was absolutely ridiculous, but, well, after everything that had happened it was hard to believe that anything was impossible...

Oh my gods, I've killed Annabeth Chase, runs through her mind. She rolls her eyes at the boy but her mind is working at a hundred miles a second. It's not as though she was particularly fond of the girl, but people won't be happy, not to mention Jackson will probably dehydrate her to death or something.

Chris puts a hand on her shoulder and she tries to banish these thoughts from her mind. Jackson can probably do something, right? With oxygen? He would have saved her... oh gods.

"What are we all standing around her for? Gods, you're all too close to me, MOVE."

They all move out of her way and she's trying not to freak out because she's killed Annabeth Chase. She survived the battle but died because of a practical joke.

Athena was going to kill her.

"Clarisse?" Chris gently pokes her.

"What?"

"Are you okay?"

At that moment, she catches sight of Annabeth Chase, soaking wet, and Percy Jackson, dry as a bone, and angrily, she storms over to them.

"About time you two showed up! This is a camp, you know, not a brothel."

Percy stares at her blankly and Annabeth shoves her hair out of her face. "Weren't you the one who threw us in the lake?"

That, Clarisse points out angrily, is not the point.

"Then what is the point?"

"The point is no one wants to watch you two suck face, so knock it off, understand?"

Percy opens his mouth as if he's about to retort but Annabeth cuts in. "Sure, Clarisse." Then she takes Percy's hand and leads him off as Chris catches up to her.

"Seriously, are you okay?"

"They should have stayed in the lake," she grumbles, forgetting all about her previous worrying.
