Trapped

Mum was screaming maniacally in horror, and then everything went into slow motion. I looked out the car window to see a car running a red light, heading straight towards us. By the time dad saw it, it was too late. The car hit directly where I was sitting. I saw all the glass break and hit me in the face, I thought I heard someone scream my name. I could feel the life slipping out of me and I knew I was losing conciseness or worse, dying. I saw Max's face and felt oddly at peace. I whispered, "I...love...you...Max," and then my world went black.

I woke up feeling hot and sweaty from that horrible nightmare that I often had. It's been nearly two years since that accident that cost my parent's life. My parents died but I was critically injured, it was a miracle that I was alive, considering that the car hit directly where I was sitting.

I groaned weirdly and jumped off the bed and headed to the shower, I needed to wash all this gross sweaty stuff off me. I stayed in the shower for just over an hour, letting the hot water drain the memories of that horrid nightmare. I was in Istanbul, the capital of Turkey as an under-cover FBI agent. My job was to get as close as I possibly could to a guy called James Belsted, without him knowing and trust me, that is no easy job. James Belsted was a serial killer on the run for five years for committing over five murders, armed robbery and treason. All their past plans to capture James had failed miserably and this was their last chance. I was their last chance.

Beep beep...beep...beep beep. I quickly rushed over to see what crazy person would send me a text message so early in the morning. It turned out to be Max, he was another agent who would give me information on James' whereabouts and what my next move should be, but he was a very close friend of mine. Well maybe more than just close friends, but we had to keep our relationship quiet and strictly professional so it wouldn't interfere with our jobs.

The text message said:

hey Vikki, hope ur up

meet me the subway

we've got a lead on James

don't B l8

luv Max

I didn't get his text message at first, but as seconds passed, it dawned on me that whatever he needed to tell me was very urgent. So I rushed out of the little apartment with a gun in my pocket and a hoodie. The subway wasn't that far away, it was only a couple of blocks if I took the shortcut through the alleyway. I decided that the alleyway was the best option, especially if what Max wanted to tell me was urgent and I needed time to think and settle down before anything drastic happens...again.

I was still in deep thought thinking about my parents and how much I missed the mover the two years that seemed to have flown by so quickly. I was halfway there when I stopped dead in my tracks. While I was consumed by my thoughts, I didn't notice that it had been really quiet, I mean normally this alleyway is always quiet, but there was something strange today. It felt eerie like the feeling you get when you're being watched. I had a very bad feeling about who was watching me right now. . . . . .
