Karkat grumbled, looking around his room, realizing his power was going out. The damned storm outside had just about killed his electricity with that last shocking lightning strike. Karkat stood up and grabbed a flashlight, checking to see if his internet connection was still up. The box's lights went out, and then came back on, signaling that it would probably be a rather shady connection until his power came back on. Damnit, he was just talking with his friends not but even a few minutes ago, and then the power cut out. Karkat began to walk out of his room, before his portable computing device hummed in his sylladex. Karkat pulled it out and sighed, noting the message was from Terezi.
"K4RK4T, C4N YOU COM3 BY MY H1V3? 1 KNOW 1T'S SHORT NOT1C3, BUT 1 N33D SOM3 H3LP ON… SOM3TH1NG."
Karkat groaned and grabbed his oversized coat, cursing at his lusus as he walked out, his lusus screaming back at him. Karkat made sure his flashlight had enough battery and set off, wondering what the fuck Terezi even needed in this weather.
When Karkat arrived at Terezi's hive, he sighed, knocking on the door. It looked dark inside, either from a power outage of some sort, or because she was tricking him. When he knocked the door creaked open, Karkat's eyebrows rising. Karkat poked his head in; remarking on the fact the door was unlocked. That was not like Terezi.
"UH, TEREZI, YOU IN HERE?" Karkat asked into the void, turning on his flashlight and pointing it at the ground as he entered her hive, closing the door behind him. Karkat walked around, trying to find Terezi, trying not to trip on any scalemates, but to no avail. He fell over and landed on the ground, suddenly the rain outside not the only noise in the hive.
"K4RKL3S? 1S TH4T YOU?" the blind troll spoke out, sniffing the air and moving over to him, helping him sit up. Karkat rubbed his head and winced in pain, realizing he hurt his elbows.
"YEAH, IT'S ME. WHY DID YOU CALL ME OVER IN THE MIDDLE OF A GIANT STORM, TEREZI? IT WAS DANGEROUS OUT THERE."
A bolt of lightning struck outside and Terezi yelped in surprise, the thunder echoing around them. Terezi fell against Karkat, trying to burry herself in his chest. Karkat blushed and sighed, holding her against him, rubbing her back.
"1T'S JUST… TH3 NO1S3S SC4R3 M3, K4RKL3S. 1 C4N'T S33 WH3R3 4LL OF 1T 1S, 4ND TH3 SM3LLS F4D3 TOO QU1CKLY FOR M3 TO 3V3N BOTH3R. 1T SC4R3S M3 TH4T TH3 NO1S3S 4R3 SO LOUD…"
Karkat rubbed her back and shushed her, making sure she was okay before even letting her go. He kissed her forehead softly and sighed.
"HEY, I'M HERE. YOU'LL BE SAFE WITH ME, OKAY?"
Terezi nodded and cackled, trying to kiss Karkat's forehead but missing, accidentally kissing Karkat's lips. Karkat blinked and blushed, Terezi cackling at him.
"4R3 YOU BLUSH1NG?"
"WHAT? NO, OF COURSE NOT!"
Terezi cackled again and licked Karkat's cheek, Terezi snuggling up in Karkat's embrace.
"TH4NKS FOR COM1NG OV3R ON SUCH SHORT NOT1C3."
"ANYTIME, I GUESS."
Terezi sighed and drifted off, falling asleep in Karkat's arms, Karkat still blushing as he fell asleep too, making sure she was safe from the noises that she feared.
