The Prologue
Sara Jones smiled as she stepped out of the passenger side of her husband's silver Mercedes, greeted by her real estate agent. The Sun was agleam, shining it's bright dazzling rays upon her family's new home in Seven Hills, Henderson. Two years had gone by since her departure from Las Vegas, and now, she had returned, with her charming husband George, her youthful daughter Bridget and a slightly swelled abdomen, proudly displayed by her elongated, floating lilac summer dress.
"Mr and Mrs Jones, welcome to Seven Hills," the eager agent welcomed them. "Shall we go inside then?" She gestured towards the old-fashioned, elegant house behind her.
"Yes, we're so excited, aren't we darling?" Sara nodded, nodding her head as they stepped onto the sidewalk, her now blonde hair swaying in the cool breeze. "Come along Bridget, you too George," she gently laid a hand to her belly as they slowly walked down the path, only to be stopped by a familiar voice.
As she turned around it dawned on her just who it was. She quickly turned back to her family and ushered them inside. "Why don't you all go inside, I'll be along in a minute." The man approached her as George, Bridget and the agent closed the front door.
"Excuse me M'am, I'm investigating a break-in across the street. Gil Gri-" He introduced himself, scanning his mind for an image, he recognised those eyes from somewhere. Interrupted by her soft, gentle voice, his jaw dropped as he realised who he was speaking to.
"Gil Grissom, yes. I used to work with you. I'm sorry, but could we hurry this? It's just my husband and daughter are inside and I want to look around our new home, the moving van should be along soon." She asked, motioning towards the house. "Um, I'll possibly pay you a visit at the Crime Lab. Say.. Tomorrow? I've got a lovely recipe for muffins from George's great-grandmother, perhaps I'll bake some and bring them with me." She offered, grinning as she watched him nervously lay his hand on the back of his neck.
Grissom raised his eyebrows as Sara spoke, this wasn't the woman he knew. The Sara Sidle he knew hated dresses, talking 'posh', baking and dying her hair. It had been two years since he had heard her voice, and he began to wonder just what had happened to her. "Sure.. Sara," he replied, unsure of what he could say to her. She had been the love of his life, and had left him heartbroken when she had returned to San Francisco. Here she was now, completely different; married with a child, obviously with another one on the way, yet he still had butterflies in his stomach as her soft voice bid him goodbye.
He stood still as he watched her close the front door behind her, amazed by what he had just seen. All but jumping as a voice boomed out, he quickly turned to see it was Catherine, her red hair gleaming in the Sun.
"Who was that?" She questioned, reading the puzzled expression on his face as he exhaled deeply.
Review. Or Laura (Smilie-Loz-x) dies.
